i hope this is the right forum topost this.

the other nite, i was watching ripleys believe it or not. there was this pregnant african woman who was 8mo preg. her blood pressure went up so high that she went to the hospital. they did an ultrasound and found out that her baby was <get this..> attached to her liver!!!!!! so they did a c-sec and eveerything was alright.

what i'm wondering is, how in the world can your egg implant itself on your liver???? has anyone else heard of this?

Well, I have never heard of the baby implanting on the liver per say but it is possible although highly unlikely. The definition of ectopic is when the fertilized ovum implants on any tissue other than the endometrial lining of the uterus. So, a baby could implant on the liver but I would think in most cases it would not survive.

How strange!

Yes, I have heard of that. Maybe it was the same story. I also read of a story a few years ago where the baby implanted in the gut area. It got enough nutrients to survive there, and ended up being delivered by c-section when the doctors finally figured out it wasn't in the uterus.

Wow, that is truly amazing.

What about this quote from the article:

Quote:
Doctors had to leave the placenta and amniotic sac in the liver, because the mother's life would have been at risk.
do you think they meant "on" the liver and not "in" the liver?? How would the placenta and amnio sac grow "in" the liver? I just thought the egg and all was implanted on the outside. So confused....
: I guess I don't have to understand it all, just appreciate it!

And LOVE that BF pic! BBC rules!
