I locked me and the kids out of the house today. Yes, I did. Then, while I searched for a non-existent spare key in the garage, the kids locked themselves in the hot van. Yes, they did.

It was all over within an hour, and everyone's fine, but let's just say I'm not winning any Mother of the Year awards today. I feel like life is just full of "pregnant moments" lately--you know, the kind where you do dumb things, and figure it's pregnancy eating your brain cells?

Please tell me I'm not the only one.

I'm so glad everyone is okay!

Great blog, by the way! I noticed your husband works for IV...neat! I was involved with a similar organization during college. It was wonderful...my husband and I met during my junior year through it!

Oh my gosh!

So far I actually feel pretty normal in the head department. Of course, I think I lost all my brain cells in the last few pregnancies!

Thank goodness everything turned out well.

Yikes! I've done that a few times, though not in the last year. Luckily, dd is big enough now to get out of her carseat and unlock the doors if they accidentally got locked in the car.

You've given me a good reminder to get some spares hidden away though. DH is deploying very soon and won't be here to bail me out if I lock myself out of the house or car.

Ooh, bummer...I'm so glad everyone's ok.

I had one last night...we were watching Casino Royale and there was this huge chase scene. I asked where it was filmed and he said "Africa." I said, "Oh, yes, of course, hence all the African-Americans in the scene." He said, "No, hence all the AFRICANS. And yes, I still think you're pregnant."

Okay, I have one. This morning dh was making toast for himself for breakfast. He got out the butter and I was talking to him and absent-mindedly picking up the counters. I put the butter away. He got it back out. And as I'm talking, I pick up the butter to put it away again. He gently took it from me and just smiled. I looked at him and said "what?" He said "Please don't put the butter away again, I'm making toast here." Wow, I really wasn't paying any attention to what I was doing at all!

I've had a few myself but hubby is having them too. Just today he put my empty dishes in the refrigerator instead of the dishwasher and then later saw them and asked what they were doing in there. I said, "I don't know, you're the one who cleared them, remember?" He blushed.

Yes, this is what I thought, too. I have a four-year-old. Except my car is strange, and every time she'd unlock the door, it would immediately lock back up and turn on the loudest car alarm EVER. Click on my name in my siggy to read my blog entry about it.

Ha! I do this all the time--I'm always putting things away when people are using them. Totally absent-mindedly.

I read your story Serina. Wow! What an afternoon you had. Scheeli is in a booster carseat now, so she can get herself out and unlock the doors, but last summer, she was in a convertible carseat still, she couldn't quite reach the lock and she couldn't get herself out, though she tried really hard when I locked them in. Both kids were in their carseats, it was at least 80 out and I managed to lock the kids and my whole purse in the car. I called a locksmith and they came within 10 min. but it felt like forever to me. He didn't even charge me, I think he just thought I was a helpless female on the verge of tears and the least he could do was unlock the door and not charge me.

You are definitely not the only one. I *almost* did the whole lock us out of the house thing.

I'm just glad I seem to be keeping it together so far.

Sorry you had a tough day, but there were many in which I wouldn't win mother of the year. One fact being that for my youngest daughter, I've forgotten to send in field trip money twice this year. Last, last Friday being the most recent, so now she can't go on that field trip. It happens to be on her b-day, so I guess I'll keep her home from school and take her out for her b-day.

My pregnant moment today was watching Little House on the Prairie and bawling my eyes out when the doctor tells Pa that Mary is going blind. :

A few weeks ago while running errands, I stopped at the grocery to get one thing. I opened the car door, stepped out, locked it, and took a few steps before realizing my keys were still in the car. In the ignition. With the engine running.

I ran home about a mile to get spare keys, convinced my car would explode if I didn't act quickly. I must've looked ridiculous sprinting down the street in skinny jeans and beaded shoes, looking so intense. My husband later assured me that no, the engine would not explode if left running. And I kept assuring myself that no, I would not miscarry because of a quick run.

I returned to the grocery a sweaty mess. The funny thing is, I must've really been "glowing." The moment I got back, one man offered to buy me the flowers I was purchasing, another told me I was beautiful in Spanish, and a group of teenagers whistled at me. Seriously, whistling?

So, to convince my husband that loosing my wallet in plain sight is normal, I've been reading him some of these.
