How do I figure out my due date if I'm nursing and haven't had a period yet. I'm only nursing my 14 month old about 4-5 times a day, but with both previous pregnancies it was years of trying and eventually clomid before conception. We are so excited to be "surprised" this time! I took a dollar store test yesterday morning (not first morning) and it had the fainted line after 5 mins--I almost missed it. So then I went a got a clear Blue test and immediately it gave me a strong + sign. All last week it was very moody and tied then on Sat I had the slightest bit of dried blood--so I thought I would be starting my period but it didn't come. Then yesterday, for no good reason I tested. I'm guessing I'm pretty early--I normally get sick around 6 weeks and so far I feel fine. Anyone have any suggestions. I'm guessing I'll be due around Christmas. I know I won't be getting an ultrasound (we didn't one with the other two and my husband is dead set against it unless of an emergency) and my midwife retired so do have anyone to call yet.

I would mark on your calander the day you had spotting- could have been implantation, and the day you got your positive-count forward 38 weeks from that and go with it as a due date. I would then start calling around to find a midwife or OB to use, and in the process of picking one, discuss your situation, how they would pick a "due date" and what they would do if baby was "late" by that estimation. Some midwives may be very cool with making a guess that conception happened about 10 days before the spotting, and then checking your measurements to see if that corosponds and be laid back about it. However, some midwives, and most OB's (at least here) are rather high strung about babies being "overdue", and if I had to deal with one of those, I would rather have an early u/s just to date the pregnancy and give a good guess at a due date- rather than risk being induced because they guessed wrong about your dates and have baby before she was ready to come.

Congratulations!!!!

I had the exact same problem with this pregnancy, btw, so know that you're not alone.
