Hi ladies. I need some assitance. I am going from the "let them tell em everythign to do thing" with having a baby to saying.. why are you doign that. for what reason do you want to do that? I am looking into refusing the glucose test and possibly the group B strep. Do you have any resources to direct me towards? I cannot seem to find facts about these tests. but they don't seem to be reasonable to me.

I am almost 18 weeks so I know that they'll suggest it in a few weeks when I go to the Ob. I wish I had a midwife closer but I do not. I do hospital birth but I have my reasons for that But you never know since i have such speedy labors.. I might just not make it

thanks for any help you can offer. I really appreciate it

There is also some fabulous information on both of these topics in Henci Goer's book, THe Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth. I highly recommend that book!!

Here's a link from Henci about the Gestational Diabetes issue (but still get the book, or check it out from the library!!):

http://www.parentsplace.com/expert/b...269209,00.html

You can look on the CDC's website for information on GBS. It is www.CDC.gov. They are the ones who did the big study that resulted in the new testing recommendations--ie that everyone gets screened. Good luck. J
