I've rented a few prenatal yoga DVD's from netflix to see what I like before I make a purchase. Some have been better than others, and I was wondering if any of you are doing prenatal yoga at home? If you use a DVD, is there one you recommend? With DS I did exercises from a book, but sadly I can't remember which one. I liked that I could pick and choose what I wanted to do, based off how I felt for the day, but I do like having a DVD to better see the poses and also not end up spending the whole session in 'child's pose'
I just can't seem to get out of the house to do a 'for real' yoga session. As it is, DS loves to spend yoga time with me, and I have the joys of getting tickled, crawled over/under and of course sweet kisses and hugs when I'm in the most precarious of poses.

I have a deck of Prenatal Yoga cards, that seems helpful! I was supposed to start Prenatal Yoga today but unfortunately my DH had other plans and we are a 1 car family. I am sad about it and will be having a talk with him about what is more important, his plans or me & the baby's fitness.

oh, I like that idea of the cards. Where did you find them? Bookstore? I hear you on the scheduling time for you to work out. My biggest downfall is remembering to come up with a schedule, and then I feel sorry for myself that I never get any time out. We are a 1-car family too; there have been times where I've told him when to drop me off and pick me up, and what he can get done in the meantime is up to him

When I was pregnant with my DS I did the Shiva Ray prenatal yoga DVD and I enjoyed it. However, I practice yoga very regularly and I found prenatal yoga to be really boring until the 3rd trimester when I got too big to do my regular class. You might just find a beginning class at a studio and tell the instructor that you are pregnant.

I am going to be taking a yoga class at the community college next semester.. it's not "prenatal" but the instructor can show me prenatal modifications. It's a weekly class. Maybe getting a DVD for the rest of the days is a good idea

ratrodgrl-what netflix ones did you like?

I used to do yoga regularly but have gotten out of the habit. I did prenatal classes with my first 2 and I loved them. I felt I was in much better shape for those pregnancies than my 3rd or this one.

I've been thinking of doing some yoga again and have starting some basic sun salutations with a you tube video that I like.

Thanks for kick starting me into some healthy habits with this thread!

I have tried out three so far, the one I think I like best is "Rocki's Prenatal Yoga vol.1" mainly because I feel like it works my lower limbs more. I 'feel' the added stretch/strength in my legs/hips after doing that yoga routine. I equally liked "Gaiam's Prenatal Yoga" with Yogi Shiva Rea, but have only tried it once. That one has 3 women to follow, 1st-3rd trimesters, and I know it'll be nice once I start needing modifications. The other one is "Yoga for Pregnancy, Labor and Birth" which was also good. I'm not madly in love with any of the three, and plan on checking a few more out, but I'm glad to have a variety to work with, and I mainly just like having a routine to follow. It also helps having someone talk me through the relaxation part. I do like the idea of flash cards though for times when I don't have time for a whole session.
