preparing millet?

I made millet for the first time tonight and ds loved it! However, can tell me what the texture is supposed to be like if it's properly prepared? It was good, but a bit, umm, gummy! :LOL

Does that sound right or is it supposed to be more like couscous where you fluff it up with a fork & the grains separate? I followed directions in my Moosewood cookbook - put 1 c. millet in pan with 1 3/4 c. water, bring to boil, cover & simmer on low 20 min.

Same thing happened to me when I tried to make it. Actually, I did the Moosewood thing, too, IIRC!

I make it in the rice cooker, it comes out great, seperate and not gummy. I throw in some onion and garlic powder, too.

That sounds good. What ratio grain/water do you use?

I think I'll try these directions next time.
