Detroit-area moms who do not vax,

do you find it difficult to find preschools who will accept non-vaxed children? I believe most preschools are privately owned and therefore can refuse admission to those who aren't vaxed. Okay, okay, our son is only 4 months old...but we're thinking ahead.

DH and I are concerned that we won't be able to get our boy into a local preschool because of this issue. Just wondering if our worries are justified, or if there are plenty of preschools around who are fine with it. We live in Macomb County.

Thanks.

IME private schools are less likely to give parents' flack about vaccinations and waivers as their rates aren't linked to funding. Most religious schools are ok but some Protestant schools are a bit controlling. If you use the buzz words "aborted fetal tissue" when requesting a waiver most will back off. If you use a Waldorf/Steiner school, as a non-vaccinating parent, you might even find yourself in the majority.

Thanks for the reply, BV. We are not a religious family and wouldn't be putting our LO in a Christian/Jewish school.

I am not familiar with Waldorf/Steiner schools, I'll have to check them out. Thanks.

Anyone else?

I never encountered a problem with my sons pre school. In fact I dont even think they asked for shot records. It was a catholic pre school in a k-8th grade school. Im pretty sure I did not have to show any records.
