i know no other way to say this than to be blunt. between last night and today, the cervical pressure that has been painful and uncomfortable since the baby dropped last month has become pleasurable. a turn on. i've never read about this in any book so i don't know if it's normal at all and when i told my partner, he burst out laughing.

of course, the advantage to this is that i'm not dreading the time between now and the birth quite as much! but i have no idea why this is happening. certainly when i read spiritual midwifery and ina may's guide to childbirth, i was more than a little skeptical that a contraction could ever feel like an orgasm, because i've attended dozens of births and while i've seen lots of serene bradley method and hypnobirthing mamas, i've yet to personally know a mom who said that a contraction was sexually pleasurable. but just maybe...

I think I know what you're talking about! I told my husband recently that all the pressure and swelling from the baby dropping have made me more in the mood lately-Unfortunately the last time we dtd I had some bloody show the next day, so he refuses to do anything until I'm at least 38 weeks

Well, if I post to this thread then you'll know me. The last day or so before DD was born, we had some major cervical stimulation going and when I tried squatting or blowing up balloons to bring her down, it felt incredibly good. Then the next day, just before she was born I had a major contraction that took me from <5cm to full dilation, and that felt better than the best orgasm in the world, ever, ever, ever. Unfortunately, I wasn't in the best headspace ever, and I don't think you get many of those in a lifetime so I'm planning on doing the next labour the slow and traditional way.
Enjoy this time, and the changes in your body, because you're only going to be heavily pregnant a few times in your life .

I don't know if it's from the pressure, but the closer I get to labor day, the more amorous I feel. It was a solo orgasm that nudged me into labor last time.
