Does anyone here use Primal Defense? The new osteopath recommended it but I looked at it and it has oat grass and barley grass. If we're gluten free, is that okay? I noticed they have a kid one, but it's flavored with banana which DD can't have, so I was thinking of going with the powdered unflavored one for them, and capsules for me. But I don't want to order it until I know whether oat and barley grass contain gluten... both DD and DS tested moderate intolerance to oats.

Thank you! I, also, was just looking at a product with both of these ingredients and was going to ask the same question. Of course at the moment I have no memory of what said product was.

I bought it but still haven't taken any because it also says "products are cultured in dairy, which is generally consumed during the fermentation process." And I don't know if that is good enough or not. I don't want to go backwards.

I have found (personally and anecdotally) that it can really be an issue. I bought some of the best probiotics you can buy IMO (Custom Probiotics) and went back and forth on the whole dairy issue (it's consumed during the process...how do you know? because we culture for longer than anyone else. What does that mean? That there's no traces of dairy left. By whose standards? ...you get the idea)

ANYWAY after being PROMISED that there was not a speck of dairy in there I gave it to ds2. He reacted immediately. I would *definitely* proceed with caution.

BTW...they were able to make be a blend he didn't react to. I will never ever ever again though buy that the medium is "consumed" during the process.

I guess I'll see if anybody I know wants it then. I guess I'm not willing to take that chance when I'm doing so well (over 2 weeks on no antibiotics).

Sorry...I had to come back and post. It may be worth it for *you.* The instance I was citing was with a very new little one. Clearly an infant is going to be quite reactive and when this happened with my ds he was just a few weeks old. I'm sorry. I went into default mode there. I wouldn't chance potential trace amounts with a baby but I probably would with an adult. I should make sure I'm awake before I post.

Ultimately though it's definitely going to require you trusting your gut! I just don't want to sway you negatively because of my spaciness. Sorry 'bout that.

When I went off the dairy, soy, and gluten, and my major back pain went away (the osteopath is working on the nerve issue still), I've gotten scared of trialing any of the three to see if I can get any of them back. Though I just realized that the fish oil I've been taking all this time has tocopherols (soy) so maybe I am okay with soy. I trialed water buffalo milk and got diarrhea and horrible nightmares for 3 days, so I'm scared of more dairy (no matter how good it smells when DD1 has fresh bread and butter). Now that I'm off all the pain meds, I just don't want to go back on them. So I don't know yet if I'm willing to try the Primal Defense. I am doing a bunch of other probiotics so maybe I'll just stick with what I'm doing....
