I just bought 2 new Joey Bunz, and want to prime/prep them to mak ethem absorbent, but don't want to do 4 washes just on 2 JB! I know I've heard some people boil things to get out the natural oils. How long to you boil them for? Do you use any detegent in the boiling water? Do you have to wash them afterwards in your washing machine?

Thanks for any advice you have!

i think the advice about dish detergent is good advice. when i dye hemp (and to dye it, i want the fiber all nice and plumped up so the dye can react with the maximum number of cells for good, long lasting color -- i know, more info that you wanted lol
) i use something called synthrapol, which actually has a lot in common with dish detergent.

i would not boil the hemp fiber for a long time however. i think a good soak in a pail of very hot water will do what you want. although you can boil cotton and hemp fibers, there will be some breakdown.

I boil them for about 30 minutes with a drop or 2 of liquid dish soap, then toss them in with the next load of diaper laundry.
