I am looking for an OB to see for a second opinion for prolonged pain after a c/s. I need an OB with good bedside manner who will actually listen to my concerns and do a real evaluation to figure out what is wrong. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm in NE Baltimore, but I'd be willing to drive up to 45 minutes or so...

The doctor that did my c/s was Dr Susie Chung in Towson (she is at St Joseph Hospital). I really like her bedside manner, she is very calming, I think, and I think she is liking talking to a friend. You can try her, she might help. I liked her because she listened to my opinions when I refused certain tests like the amnio and stuff and didn't push me toward any direction.

I saw Dr. Nicole Pilevsky and Dr. Christine Richards of Capital Women's Care in Clarksville before deciding to go with a midwife for the birth of my son. They were good listeners and very respectful of my choices/preferences.

I am not exactly sure if he can help you, but my friend is currently seeing DR.Im( i think thats it) at mercy, he is the sweetest man, and the only one that has finally helped her after years and years of pain. He even sent her flowers the day after she had surgery. i haven't seen him but he sounds like he is a great listener and has awesome bedside manner

I'm sorry to hear you are not recovering well from your surgery. I'm not a medical person but I would be glad to talk to you about your recovery issues if that would be helpful- I had daily pain from my cesarean for 1 1/2 years and it wasn't until I connected with other ICAN women that I learned how common this is. There is a misconception out there that cesarean moms are all recovered by 6 weeks postpartum. Some women do do well fairly quickly but some moms go on to months or years of pain.

Acupuncture has helped some women recover better and there is an acupuncturists in Baltimore willing to do home visits for post-cesarean moms. I swore I'd go into credit card debt to afford accupuncture if I ended up with another cesarean the second time around.

After ruling out a medical problem with your recovery, other factors for long term pain include genetics, age, surgical skill, and how gentle you have been able to treat yourself as a recovering surgical patient. Lift as little as possible for as long as possible - no lifting loads of groceries or carrying the baby in his/her carseat. It was when I finally started doing that that my body finally started to heal.

But yes, please do rule out medical issues. Some cesarean women end up with hernias - its unfortunately fairly common. I'm not familiar with what other complications could be going on.
