I hate it when people hijack threads, but allow me to place my two cents also, because I must admit, circumcision is something I feel strongly about. There is an entire forum here regarding circumcision , and I encourage you to investigate both sides.
I used to not see what the big deal was about circumcision. 8 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter (initially the Doctor told me it was a boy - he was wrong,) I didn't think anything of it, until I had a coversation with a friend of mine who was opting not to cut. Then I did some research, and felt differently. It wasn't me changing my feelings overnight, but my feelings did change. Let me tell you why. Everything I will tell you can be backed up my medical research and historical evidence. Again, I urge you to research both sides of the issue.
Originally circumcision was performed in the US as it was thought to minimize masterbation in little boys. What followed was Doctors pocketing money and convincing people that it could cure everything from blindness to cancer and so on. There are so many nerve endings in the foreskin, and by removing that foreskin sexual pleasure IS reduced. Also, it makes the skin on head of the penis toughen due to friction etc. Unless the foreskin is diseased, which is extrememly rare, there are no medical benefits to circumcision. It simply accomplishes one thing - removing senisitivity to the sexual organ.
Just because something is normal and common in your area doesn't make it right. 85% of men/boys in the world are not circumcised. Little girls are also circumcised in Africa, but for some reason that is viewed as gential mutiliation whereas cutting the gentials of a little boy isn't? To me, this is not a logical conclusion.
I do know the American Academy of Pediatrics states circumcision isn't medically necessary. Also I know that the Canadian Paediatric Society also states that they do not support circing boys.
http://aappolicy.aappublications.org...cs%3b103/3/686 This is a link to the American Acedemy of Pediatrics medical findings regarding circumcision. The link is a the results of a real medical research study with facts and figures by a real medical organization. It's hard to digest unless you are a doctor, but at least it is a real study and not something composed by people buying into a conspiracy.
The final paragraph is thier conclusion based on all of thier tests, facts, and figures. The final paragraph is the most important thing to read.
I apologize for hijacking the thread.
In regards to if it is a little boy or not, there are all sorts of wives tales out there predicting boys or girls. For every 100 girls born, there are 105 boys born. So the odds are slightly greater than 50/50 that it will be ab oy. Other than that, the only real way to determine the sex of the baby is by ultrasound (which is not always fully reliable) or waiting until he/she is born! :LOL
