Because of having a dog who sheds hair, I keep fleece type blankets on the sofa seats so you cant see all the hair she leaves on them, and I wash them weekly.

Problem is, these fleece type blankets seem to get a lot of STATIC electricity in them, so my hair goes static and often I get shocks on my fingers from it...so what would be better to use as sofa seat coverings? Cotton sheets? What do you use?

I use the no dogs on the couch rule sorry that wasn't very helpful was it.

I have a very old couch and although the frame is in good shape the cushions etc are beat up. I recently found a cotton blend slipcover that is super easy to take on & off and launders beautifully. I bought it at Ocean State Job Lots it was under $30. But my point is you would be better off trying out a sheet, jersey knit would probably work well.

Jersey knit might really catch the dog hair. Don't know if that's an advantage or disadvantage.

I had a friend with a dalmation who used a cotton painters' dropcloth to cover his couch. It worked well with the 'industrial' aesthetic of his place...

you may also need a humidifier. It is soooooo dtry this time of year and that is what makes the static more then anything. I can always tell when our humidifier runs out, i start getting shockes with everything I touch.

Try a cotton fitted sheet maybe, if that would stay on.

Maybe a heavy duty denim type slipcover? Durable, will stay in place & washable.

I stopped letting the dogs on the couch or bed when we started getting ticks in the house. Then there was the day my lab decided to eat a sofa cushion.....
