So I've tried using a stretchy wrap and a woven wrap but I keep running into the same problem. When I swing ds around to my back the wrap pulls up to his armpits and his but is no longer covered.

I probably should I have worked on this earlier when he weighed less and it would have been easier! He's almost a year and about 25lbs.

Any suggestions on how to combat this problem are appreciated.

How are you getting him on your back? With my dd I would have her stand in front of me, put the wrap around her back and around the front under her arms, gather it in the front and toss her over my shoulder like a back pack. Then, this is the important part, lean over, and spread out the fabric before I started anything.

If you are spreading out the fabric before you start (I didn't do this at first) I'm not sure what the problem might be.

I can't seem to reach around to pull the fabric down under his bum.

I am using the backpack method. However he doesn't stand without holding onto things.

You should be able to just grab the tails of the fabric that are hanging at your side and wiggle them down (you know, that motion like if you were drying your back/shoulders with a towel?) I don't think you really have to be able to reach back to his bum necessarily- unless you need to feel for reassurance- maybe just do it infront of a mirror so you can see even if you can't feel? To keep him stable while back there hold the top rail of the fabric tight under your armpits while you wiggle the bottom rail down over his bum.

I just started hip-sliding my 8 mo old onto my back. Up until now I'd lay the wrap down on the couch, lay him in the centre, then lower my back down to him, pull him close, then stand up and just double check that his bum was still covered, never had a problem with the bottom rail sliding up.

And I assume you know this already, but just to be sure, make sure that there's enough fabric under him (and that it's tight enough) to form a seat for his bottom...you want his knees to be as high if not higher than his bum...if his legs are left to dangle without comming up to the sitting position, the bottom rail will just work its way right up and off the bum, so you want the fabric to go down over his bum, and pretty much all the way down to his knees...much more stable....if that made any sense??

Good luck mama, I hope you figure it out! What back cary are you using?

I had to take a pic of it- it made me laugh my a$$ off when I turned around saw his bum hangin' out- and I tried so hard to keep track of the rails...

It's the putting it over your shoulders that gets me...ít's so far up.

OOooo,....I just remembered a cary called 'Jordans cary' or something like that...let me find it...brb

Okay...here it is, I like it better than the Tibetian personally...although I've only done it twice:

There is also the strap carry that you can tie like the tibetan and you don't have to worry about the fabric being spead out.
Here is a video:

The carry looks like it isn't very secure but it really is. The fabric across the back holds the baby close and the fabric crossed under the baby's legs holds the baby up.
