I'm having a hard time finding information on this. I ended up with a uterine prolapse and a cystocele (both mild) after the birth of my second child 20 months ago. I just found out I'm pregnant again, and I'm finding conflicting info on prolapse during pregnancy. Some things I read say that it's generally not much of an issue, and other things say you're at a much higher risk of preterm labor.

Does anyone have any reliable info on this? Or has anyone experienced a pregnancy with prolapse? I'll be seeing a midwife after I get insurance, but that won't be for at least a month or two and I'd like to have a general idea of what to expect.

Thank you!

I had mild prolapse issues after my second child and it actually was much better during my third pregnancy. My MW didn't even really consider it prolapse any more by that point, so maybe you may have a similar experience?

I don't have experience specific to yours, but I know what my midwife would say - "Do your kegels!" Both she and my doula have stressed the importance of keeping toned, and talked of one woman who didn't realize that and ended up with prolapse....I believe that now she faithfully does her kegels and was able to rectify it and/or prevent re-occurence.

I'm sure you know all this...my guess is you'll be fine if you keep up your exercises. This is my second pregnancy as well, and I'm having a hard time remembering to do them, plus it's just more difficult overall! One trick they said was to think of five floors, slowly tightening and holding at the top floor, and then gradually working back down, if that makes sense. =-) Except that now I feel like I only have 3 floors, heh.

Good luck, thanks for the reminder
