I'm not quite sure how to go about this? Do I just not enroll her? Do I have to notify someobody? Who? I live in IL if it makes a difference. I understand that IL is very homeschool friendly, but since I've never done it before, I'm not sure what steps we need to take. Thanks!

ETA Dd is in Kindergarten right now and *would* be going to a different school for 1st grade (if that makes a difference either).

1) Hook up with an active HS support group, if only for information. Google "homeschool Illinois" and see what comes up. Most active groups have an e-list on Yahoo or some other forum.

2) Know your state's laws. Not what the school board tells you, or what the mom down the street tells you. Read the actual statute or code and take it literally. Yours is here.

From what I can see at a glance, you don't have to notify anyone. Nor do you have to enroll your child anywhere. But I didn't read the whole thing carefully....
