I've been working for a few months and pumping at work. I've never been able to get a ton pumping, a max of 10oz, even though I always felt engorged. Now it's down to about 6oz and I don't feel engorged anymore. So that's all my 9mo old has during the day. But it seems like no matter what I do, my supply is dropping. Probably stress related.

I just don't know what to do. She refuses formula. We've tried for months. So she drinks water and some juice during the day. But it doesn't seem like enough to me!! She's eating solids, she's a huge eater like my #1 was, so I'm not concerned with her being hungry, just with her nutrition and good stuff?

Please any suggestions?

Does she nurse very frequently when you are home with her? She may be making up for it then. Do lots of skin to skin time when you are with her, maybe vary your pumping times or add another session if you are able. Fenugreek can help boost your supply.

if she's growing and happy and healthy and nurses plenty when you're home then I'd say she's fine. I don't know what kinds of formula you've tried but I do know a lot of babies prefer Enfamil. But if she's eating tons of solids and nursing with you I think she doesn't need the formula.

fenugreek, blessed thistle and goat's rue all help to stimulate milk supply and also oatmeal in the am. I too have low milk supply problems. I have to supplement with formula also. My little guy really likes Enfamil Gentlease. It's very watery, much moreso than the regular formula. I take 2 pills of fenugreek 4x/day. It's an aromatic herb, totally safe. It's used in Curry (it's not spicy at all). It upped my milk supply drastically. I went from being able to pump .5 ounces on each side in a sitting to 3 ounces a side. I am going back to work in a bit and plan on using the fenugreek. good luck

Definitely try some other types of formula, they all taste so different- as do powder based vs. pre-made-liquid. There is a danger of not getting enough iron especially if the baby is supplimented with water/juice, so formula really would be better now. Good luck!
