Big cyberhugs, Dawn! Your little girl is so cute in her hat! That mosaic picture with the leaves is just gorgeous. And I love the photo effects on the pics. I hope you're feeling better!

thanks ladies, I'm feeling a lil better today

for the vine I did a crochet chain of I think about 20, and then starting at the chain closest to the needle I did 3 double crochet in each one going back towards the end, I'm awful at explaining things so I hope I'm not making it ...
as you do the three double crochet in each chain you sorta "encourage" the vine to twist as you go down the line, my mother used to make us these silly little crochet clowns that way years ago...

I can try to explain that better w/ pics if its clear as mud

eta- then i just attached it to the stem by sewing it to the side and securing on the inside of the stem

Here is another pumpkin hat I just finished, started it last night, now I just have to convince myself to mail it to my nephew like I intended to... I like this one much more than my first so I see another punkin hat in Elliana's future

Punkin head punkin head

the hat in the first pic still fits my daughter and shes now 2. Its a lil bit snug but seemed to stretch alot. (I did make it in cotton ease though, not wool, I imagine it would stretch a bit more if I had done it in wool?)

I just finished one of those for a newborn, using the baby size and its pretty small, you could always go up a few stitches to be on the safe side. I think it was multiples of 9?

eta- there is also this pattern http://knitting.about.com/library/blpumpkin.htm
