Hi folks! Brand new to the forum so I hope I'm posting in the right place. My girlfriend and I recently decided to get our baby train in motion! I'll be carrying, and I'm definitely the Totally Baby Crazed (have been for a long, long time) type, and she's more of a Worry & Think It Through type, so that's fun ;).

Anyways I started temp tracking & using OPKs midway through last cycle-a lesbian mom friend told me it would be prudent to have a few months of data before scheduling the first IUI. Currently we have a donor short-list and a few contacts of local midwives who do at home IUI (anonymous donor+IUI Is girlfriend's choice based on legal worries as non-bio parent-I'm more open to other methods but happy to go the route that makes her feel safest).

Waiting for AF to arrive so I can get my testing started. I dont think I have ever looked forward to AF before. :) Of course whenever I start paying attention to my cycles they chage. So far I am a day late. Frustrating. ....

Thanks smella! My temp clearly rose (finally) so I ovulated yesterday. It's been a while since I've felt confident in the timing. I'm 1dpo today.

2moms - welcome to waiting land... Grr. I hope af arrives today so you can get started!

Hi All,

I'm an old timer here (2008-2010 my former profile that Mothering won't let me into anymore, was Miss Scarlett) back on the TTC bandwagon. It was fun to look back some of my old friends that have graduated with BFPs and babies now! This forum was SUCH a big part of my TTC journey, and I still keep in touch with some friends that were made on the Queer Conceptions forum. My DW and have been together for three years, and married last December. We are excited, and nervous about beginning this wonderful, heartbreaking, hard, lovely journey together (It's her first TTC rodeo). I had multiple m/c's with IUI and ICI before, but am hoping that this is a better time, better relationship, and the RIGHT time for a sticky BFP. I'm currently 2DP IUI so I'm waiting to know ahhhhhhhhhhhhh the 2WW!!! Such a JERK!! DW says if feels like 2 days...under water. We did clomid + trigger + IUI with donor sperm, and are quite frankly a little nervous because we ended up with 5 follies. 2 were 15mm, but our RE said we couldn't count those out of the picture. We had the discussion of canceling, of selective reduction, and were very torn for 48 hours. She halved my dose of HCG, and we ultimately made the decision to move forward with insemination. I realized that there are lots of folks out there that would disagree with this decision, but it just felt right for us. I'm in a masters program, and we have a very small window in which to make this work this summer, otherwise it's taking another 2 years off for me to finish. I'm 32, DW 42, and we just have to move forward. All that being said, I'm pretty terrified that I'm now incubating a litter. Two would be a blessing, three we could handle, anything more than three is very scary.

Sticky, sticky baby dust to all! I'm happy to be back in this wonderful tribe! Also, I have so missed dancing veggies and jump roping sheep!! :broc :-wool

Mysweetlife - welcome(back)!! Wow I'm impressed with the 5 follies, what dose of clomid were you on? My two cycles with 50mg clomid have made one follicle each time. Did they give you any probability/ stats? I feel it very unlikely that you'd have toooo many fertilize AND implant. It looks like your 1 day behind me in your tww. Do you have a certain testing day or will you just wait for a blood test?

2moms - did af arrive?

I'm 3dpo... Blahh soo looong still. I do plan on starting to test out my trigger shot around 6-7 dpo so that I will know when to trust a bfp if one should happen to arrive. Also, I'm going out of town this weekend for my sisters baby shower. Maybe all the baby vibes will help during possible implantation time?

wow, MySweetLife, what an intense chain of events! i think i would have made the same decision as you did if i were in that position. happy 2ww'ing!

dani, it sounds like all that you're up to will help keep you busy during the wait!

speaking of waiting! there is so much of it! i've been doing some baby-knitting in an attempt to channel my excitement/energy.

i kind of feel silly posting updates since i feel kind of "pre" TTC, but in any case..i had a physical yesterday, got some bloodwork done (all normal! yay), doc gave me a Rx for prenatal vitamins, and i had an pre-extraction appointment with my oral surgeon so i can get those widsom teeth out before we start IUI :serious:. not excited about that at all, but I am trying to frame it as a getting all my ducks in a row!
oh, and GF and i found a donor we both like. who knew it would be that hard :dizzy
i also found a birthing center in my area that takes my insurance (miracles!) so i may go to them for a routine pelvic exam to check out the place and see if i like the vibes. the donor we both liked happens to be at a bank that has its own clinic on site, so we're considering doing iui there just to make things simpler. if i don't like it, though, we may switch to IUI at home with a midwife.

Soo af arrived finally. Never thought i would be excited about that. :) So I should have my first round if blood work and an ultrasound this Thursday. Im so nervous about having all these tests done. What if something is Wrong in there? My wife keeps telling me to stay calm and dont stress nothing is wrong. I love her to death but this is all on me, sorry I had to get out. I will keep you all posted on testing.

Anyone one in here use Midwest Fertility specialist?

Dani- Thanks! We are definitely trying to hold onto the #oneortwo motto! Ha! I'm a little afraid that ALL of my good TTC karma from all these years may catch up at once! I was just on 50mg of clomid, and obviously responded VERy well! Also, yes, the 2ww is MISERABLE. It's killing DW too. I'll probably test day 12...I only did 5000 units of HCG, so I feel pretty good about it being acurate by then. Im also starting to temp tomorrow, I realize it's totally backwards to start now, but in the past I always bottom out the morning of AF, and I like to be able to see if it's climbing. Anyway, just something to obsess over. Hopefully your busy weekend will help pass the time AND give you some baby vibes :-wool!

Smella- Thanks for the kind words. I made the mistake of looking on some other forums and there was SO MUCH negativity for folks that had gone ahead with the cycle with 5 or more follies. Thanks for the reassurance! I think pre TTC is SUPER important, and good to get into the right frame of mind. Yay for agreeing on a donor, and yay for decent insurance (mine has been surprisingly good) I did IUI's at home for my first round of TTC, and am now with a specialist. I must say, it has been FAR less stressful giving that part of it over to my RE and not struggling with timing, storage, supplies, etc. Granted, I wasn't supervised by a midwife (my partner was an NP), but it was so stressful trying to essentially be the provider and the patient. Hoping you all find a nice balance that you're comfortable with!!

2moms- Hoping AF arrived so you can get started!! :love <-- Strike that! We cross posted! So glad you get to get going! "Staying calm" is so much easier said than done!

2moms - is this your baseline ultrasound? Good luck!!!

5dpo over here. Nothing really to report. I just bought tickets to go to a couple world cup games in Montreal next weekend - anyone have any advice as to fun places to visit there? I haven't been to Canada since I was probably 10 or so and I've never gone to Montreal. That will be my testing weekend!

Dani- the trip sounds awesome! Good to be super busy for the tww Too!

MySweetLife - crossing my fingers for you! Moved you to the tww :)

2moms15 - hope all your testing goes well so you can relax :)

Smella - update away! I have posted about all my waiting and drama before tries :) it helps me feel like I'm "in" the process. Breaks and tracking are just part of it all!

AFM - feeling very down, which isn't typical for me. I am not sure if its my aunt's passing, feeling disconnected from gf, school or that I feel so disappointed about ttc. I guess all that is enough!

I'm getting headaches which I am also not accustomed to. I even get them while I'm sleeping (is this normal for headaches? I should google).

Supposed to hang w gf this weekend, but I'd rather clean my house. The caseworker from foster care is coming for an informal home inspection Thurs, just to give me a homework list on what the state will be looking at/for.

Dani2015 yes this is all my baseline blood work and ultrasound. I go Tuesday for my HSG test. Which I am really nervous about.

This is our first time with iui and having a doctor involved. Three years ago when we were first ttc, we did at home AI. So this is all new to us. Any info or experiences any of you have had with iui would be great to hear!!

The nurse who did my appointment today said everything looked good in my ultrasound so that made me hopefull. I about lost it in the office though. All these emotions are crazy and I feel like its not going to let up anytime soon. I know I'm driving my wife crazy lol. Again thanks for letting me vent :)

2Moms- I was super nervous about the HSG too, as I had heard that it was terrible, but mine was a complete piece of cake. I'm sure different providers/different patients make a difference, but mine was no worse than an IUI, and in fact, I had no cramping or bleeding afterward. I did take 800mg of Ibuprofen (which is my normal dose) before hand. Also, I've read that an HSG at the beginning of a cycle slightly increases PG chances for that cycle as well.

IUI itself is really a wham bam thank you ma'am kind of deal too. It literally takes all of about a minute and a half. I did at home ICI's before too, and to be honest, giving up all of that timing and procedural stress to a professional has been WONDERFUL for us. I did baseline u/s and blood work, HSG, then another u/s on day 10. My follicles looked good, so I triggered that night (Friday), and went in the following Sunday morning for insem. They had me lay flat for 5 minutes and out the door we went. I had some mild cramping/discomfort that afternoon, but nothing even close to normal period cramping. You've got this!!:grin:

Hey there everyone, after a long break I'm back, and not to mention married! DP and I are still at it, we've been using a KD for the last 6 months using shipped swimmers and still no BFP. We're actually 9DPO right now (angeebaby could you please move me from taking a break to tww?) I went for a check up with mye OB/GYN and she gave us a referral (another one, bc we weren't ready last year) to a RE. We had our 1st appointment yesterday and it was amazing. Our doctor was fabulous, and she said she expects to see meeh pregnant in 3 to 4 cycles. She scheduled an HSG for my upcoming cycle so I can't wait to get into it. It seems as like she breathed life back into our TTC efforts. It was so refreshing hearing that I have been doing the right things on this TTC path. Maybe this one will stick and we won't need the RE at all, but just incase...ya know. Sorry to rant so long, but I was rather excited! I see some new faces and can't wait to get to know you all. Baby dust!!
