I'm 30 wk 1 dy.

I'm trying to figure out how the baby is positioned. I used the belly mapping site and wondered if you all could confirm/correct my guesses.

The last time I had an appt a few weeks ago, the hb was in the lower right. I feel kicks (or hands?) in the right and left. As far as I know, I have never felt kicks under my ribs. I had a bulge yesterday to the right of my belly button. One day I think she's heads up and the next day I think she's transverse.

I also think I felt some hiccups way under my belly button, which would support head down.

Any ideas?

I really don't know how a "lay person" can tell, but my doctor was able to tell at 30 weeks how the baby was positioned just by pushing on my stomach.

are you able to feel the baby's back, head or bum at all? (heads are hard, butts are soft )

Babies at this time can still move around pretty freely at this point in pregnancy. It sounds like your baby does the same things my baby does. Head down and turns and kicks left and right. When something big pokes out, it's usually a butt or a head, and in your case(and mine), I believe it's a butt. Feet make bigger movements than hands, also.

Everything you all said was helpful. I have a feeling I am feeling the back and butt in my front. I felt more hiccups down low early this am and she was *shifting* like she was rolling around in there or something. It's felt like that a lot lately so I wonder if she's getting into position. The kicks etc I used to feel I seem to feel deeper so I am thinking that her hands and feet are now facing my back and her back is facing my front. That would be good news indeed!

This is second baby and I really can't tell very well. Sometimes I can tell a difference in mass--as in belly is lopsided or harder on one side or the other and sort of squishy hollow on the other, etc...but I am really lousey at telling. I thought the baby was transverse and doc said he was heads down, so it's hard to tell sometimes. It is a little easier once they really start filling the belly up, like a few weeks from now. Then it is easier to identify all those lumps and bumps.
