Hi Everyone...

I have been MIA... I had to take a break from this place because I was spending way too much money on diapers!!
: Everytime somone posted something about a new diaper I just had to try them.. I have no self control!!

I have a stupid question about dunking... When is it necessary to dunk diapers??? We have started solids and the consistency of my little guys bm are thicker, but not solid. Do I need to start rinsing the diapers before washing??

Thanks!!

Flick what will come off, then you "Only" need to get everything off if there are chunks.
Very gross but if you leave chunks then you will be cleaning out clean pieces of: corn, grapes, onions, beans, peas, popcorn and many other things out of your washer
But if it is just a plain ole' solid then flick off what will come off then wash as normal.

I rarely dunk. I just kind of let the poo roll of the diaper into the toilet. I just don't worry about any remaining little pieces - it all seems to come out in the wash. Occasionally if it's a really sticky poo, I may have to give the dipe a little swish - but now that I got my mini-shower (which I highly recommend!) no more dunking and swishing for me!

When the molars come in and each kid's poop turns to paste I dunk. Hate it but by the time I'm fed up they go back to the flickable poop so it's all okay again.

I do however rinse all poopy diapers if there is anything left-I just use the spare sink in the bathroom then clean the sink. That way if I wait a day before washing there's no chance of stains.

I don't technically dunk, I guess. My guy's poos are solid and just kinda flick/roll off 95% of the time. If we have some stuff stuck to the dipe, I just swish it in the toilet as I flush. I think I've only had to use a piece of toilet paper once to get a stubbornly sticky poo off the dipe.

After I swish/flush, I roll the dipe up and throw it into the (dry) diaper pail. The dipes are usually a little wet, but not dripping. I wash every 2-3 days and so far I haven't had any stains that wouldn't come out. I've only had to sun one dipe (after DH gave our son prunes
).

Stains don't bother me anyways. I figure, these ARE diapers!

My guy is in that gross, sticky transitional poop stage, so the poo won't just flick off. I use an old (obviously retired!) pan scraper (one of those rubber ones), and scrape off most of the poo into the toilet. Then I stick the dipe in a dry pail. For fuzzibunz, I never soak because of the danger of soaking stink into the fleece. I just prewash in cold and then wash with the non-poopie pockets. For the poopie pocket stuffers and other absorbant things, I soak them overnight in a pail with cold water, oxyclean, and a little detergent, then wash in the morning. I only wash every few days, and this has worked so far.

I
to the mini shower!!! It changed my life. I
it!!!! I used to dunk poopie diapers (when I didn't I'd end up cleaning the yucky bits out from the inside of my washer, ICK), but now, I just spray! It's also great for cleaning the tub, washing toys, postpartum perineiums :LOL . I really think every cding mom should have one!!!!!

If I forget a liner, I hold the 2 ends of the dipe and dab it in the toilet water. The poop comes right off. I hold it over the water a whle to drip most the water out and then I put it in the pail.

My mom puts the whole thing in and flushes and then rings it out.

That's what she did for us, and she does it for ds.

My DS has poo that likes to stick to his diapers. I usually use FB and it rolls off most the time, but some times i have to bouncy my diaper to get it off. And sometimes this flings poop other places than the toliet
: :LOL . I think I need to get me a mini shower! My DH won't empty poo in the toliet. He just throws the whole dirty mess in the pail without telling me.
So then I get to pick out the chunks in the wash. Oh well at least they are clean!

If it will peel off, I do so. If it sticks, it goes in the pail. I do a rinse cycle before anything else and that seems to get off all of the yucky stuff before I actually start a wash cycle. Yes, I have some stains, but they are diapers, so it does not bother me. I do sun my AIOs since those are what other people see when they change dipes in at church.

Oh, make sure to get off raisins before putting in the pail.....yuck!

Niko's poo is so sticky that nothing "flicks" off but I still get chunckies in the washer... I have to be careful with our toilet because of the enzymes for our septic I don't want them on ds dipes. Does the mini shower cause a lot of splash???

Thanks

Not if you're careful! You actually control how strong the stream is. The first time I used mine I made the mistake of turning it on full blast and gave MYSELF a shower, but now I just turn it on a little and no problems!
