My sister is pg with her 5th child (her fourth child is only 4 months old!) She is 8 or 9 weeks pg and at her first apt last week they did a blood test. They said her sugar levels were off and she needed to come in for the 3 hour test for gd.

My question is this - isn't it too soon for that test? She is only 8 weeks??? Is there an advantage to doing it earlier - or can the results be off if done too soon. She is of the idea that the sooner she finds out the better - but I was just curious as to why they would do the test so soon.....She did not have gd with her other pgcys (1 twin pgcy, 2 other pgcys) but does have a history of large babies....any thoughts...
