As soon as I ovulate I am going to be using some NPC I got OTC to hopefully help with my low progesterone/short luteal phase (due to nursing); but I'm wondering if I get my bfp should I continue with the NPC? And if so, for how long into the pregnancy?

Thanks!

I used NPC for my short luteal phase due to BFing and it worked very well for me! I continued taking it throughout the first trimester. I just verrrrry slowly lowered my dose so by 12 weeks I was taking less than I was at the beginning. I stopped taking it completely at 12 weeks.

Thanks so much! How much did you use? When you started weaning off, how much did you decrease it by?

TIA! :)

I just bought some NPC as well and it came with very detailed instructions on how to use it:

http://www.oasisserene.com/instructions/

Basically it warns you not to stop taking it if you get pregnant. Also suggests applying 1/4 tsp to 1/2 tsp per day... this is for a cream which contains 750mg/oz of progesterone, you would have to adjust the dosage if your cream has a different progesterone content.

Thanks Sourire! Mine doesn't say how much per oz, it's 20mg per pump (which is probably about 1/2 tsp or so). It says to use it 1 to 2 times a day. I was planning on using it twice a day, but not sure how to wean off.

I am curious if any of us have had saliva testing done to confirm low progesterone? Or if, like me, you're just using it based on symptoms like a short lp, pms, etc.?

I haven't had any testing, I just figured since I'm breastfeeding and have super short LP, then low progesterone is why.

Is there a way to test at home?

I think you can purchase kits online to test your saliva hormone levels at home. I did it years ago, for some non TTC related issues I was having, but I got the kit through a local compounding pharmacy.

I just assume I have low progesterone because of my short LP and spotting during the LP. I considered ordering the online kits but they are pretty expensive!
