OK - this is a pretty random question, but I thought I'd ask anyway...

I've always been told that as soon as a little baby boy's diaper was off and the cold air hit his penis, he would inevitably pee. I've been warned to keep a spare cloth nearby to thrown over ds when and if it was necessary during diaper changes to keep hiim from soaking me.

Well....ds is 5 weeks old, and he has peed during a diaper change exactly twice. Not anything terribly different from my girls, when they were newborns.

So - is the peeing as soon as the cold air hits more common among circumcised little boys? It's the only thing I can think of. Or have I just been really lucky during diaper changes so far?!

)You did have a boy! I thought I saw that in another post, but it didn't really sink in! How exciting!

We never had the peeing all over problem with our two intact boys either- although, espiecally with the first (whose foreskin is loooong), it was not much of an issue because the pee wasn't going to go straight up into your face, but if he did pee it was just going to go down on the changing pad.

(Sorry, I can not spell tonight

My circ'd son didn't pee much either, but more than an intact boy, sounds like. (Don't flame me -- I didn't know better.
) Seems like when he was newborn he would pee maybe once a week at most. I did notice he peed a couple times in the few days before he was circ'd, and he'd always hit himself in the face! Afterward it shot straight up instead.

Hi there, our experience is the same. Callum is now 23 months and he has peed at diaper changes less times than I can count on one hand. And never in the face.(running in the house nekkid is a different story though)

I find this interesting too because a friend of mine who circed her son asked me about this a few months ago. She asked when Callum stopped peeing on us at diaper changes, as her son did(or at least peed outside of his diaper) at least a couple of times a day. She seemed confused when I said he never did and then changed the subject when I said that I thought it was because Callum has a long foreskin.(she knows I am against circ)

Your experience is pretty common I think. Yet ANOTHER plus to leaving a boy intact. They never end.

Take care,
Tara

Wow... I never thought of that before, but Max just turned two and he has NEVER peed on me during a diaper change. But, when he was a newborn and we'd go to his well baby checkups, every time the nurse would lay him on the scale, he'd pee all over the place!!!

I did have a boy, Mallory - we were amazed when the midwife announced his gender after he was born! After two girls, you just expect another, you know? He's lovely, though!

Interesting about the diaper changes...thanks for the replies. I've really been expecting pee to go everywhere every diaper change, and when it hasn't, I began to think that all of the advice I was given was based on moms changing circed little boys.

It does illuminate a very sad point, though - the way that advice regarding this assumes circ as the norm.

I'm finally figuring a lot of things out, though. When dh and I got married, we were both virgins. So...lots of people recommended that we go out and get KY jelly for the wedding night, promising that that would help a lot.

So - we did, but never really saw the point of the KY stuff, so just threw it out. DH, of course, is intact. Now that ds has been born, and I've learned a bit more about circumcision, I'm realising that all of that advice assumed dh was circumcised.

How sad is that?

My circ'd nephew always peed all over the place every time he was changed. People started to use the phrase "fountain of youth."

My intact dp and I were also both virgins. We have never needed a lubricant, either. In fact I have never had any pain at all, even the 1st time. Hope this isn't TMI, but my hymen never even broke, until my dd was born.

My intact son peed a couple of times when his diaper was off when he was really small. He did this the other day but he was running around naked and it wasnt during a diaper change. LOL He peed all over dh and the chair. :LOL

Man, I wish my dh was intact. He is circ, our wedding night HURT BAD, we were both virgins too and I was totally raw feeling for a week. TMI I know, we still have to use lubricant. I REALLY wish he was intact!

None of my 4 intact boys ever peed on anyone during a diaper change that I can remember. But I DO remember my brother shooting some pea clear across my grandmother's livingroom! It was very impressive, I guess, because I would have only been 3 or 4 years old at the time this happened and I can still remember it! My 3 brothers are all intact.

That's a very interesting observation. My intact DS hardly ever pees during diaper changes. He has a few times, but not often at all. Mainly when I change him in the car and the wind gets him.
But my sister's DS is circ'd, and he pees all the time. When he was a newborn, my sis used to blow on it when she took his diaper off to get him to pee so he wouldn't catch her unaware.

Another vote for intact boys not peeing. DS peed maybe twice on the changing table (once in his own ear, lol). My circ'd nephew peed basically every time.

But perhaps we miss the point? The circ'd boy may be getting his revenge the only way he can!
