when mamas talk about decorative edges to there soakers or projects or whatever - recommendations are to crochet the edge. do you bind off - then crochet? or do you crochet while the stitches are on the needle?

Bind off, then crochet. If you slip the first stitch on each row, then you crochet into each stitch. If you bound off stitches along a live edge, you crochet every other stitch. At least that's what I do.
