My MW came the other day and set up my birth tub so I could use it as a soaking spa until the birth. It is wonderful and so relaxing, I just got out after soaking for an hour or so. Don't worry, the temp was pleanty low (96 or so).

Anyway, during that hour I had to get out and pee 3 times...this is gonna drive me nuts in labor!

I know it is good to drink during labor, and I don't want to dehydrate my self, but how did you deal with all the getting in and getting out during labor...did it bug you? Was it no big deal because you would still have to get up and pee if you were in bed or some place else?

I guess it is the having to dry off and getting a little cold that is bothering me.

Hey Sarah,

I don't know if this is what you are 'supposed' to do, but pee is sterile, so I'm planning on just peeing in the tub! Gross I know.. I know that while laboring with ds I peed with almost every contraction during transition, and unless I was sitting on the toilet, I couldn't get there in time, so I just let it flow :LOL IMO, its more important to stay hydrated than to worry about pee in the pool

SOOO close now!!

My labor was so fast and short that I'm not sure this was ever an issue- I was in the tub for less than a hour. I suppose that if I had to urinate I'd probably have just went ahead and peed in the water! There's no way I could have physically made it out of the tub and all the way into the bathroom when I was that far into labor. I can deal with the thought of a little pee- after all, the water already had other bodily fluids in it!

movement is not bad in labor. Getting into and holding a position is, thats why we have little things to remind us like urine VBG. baby needs to move and sometimes when we move it helps the baby shift around more easily.
peeing in the tub is probably no big deal because urine is sterile but if it is sitting there for a while yuck
