I am wanting to try some pocket diapers as I am finding that the AIO's that I have either wick or flat out leak. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if my dd is simply a VERY heavy wetter. Anyway, I've decided I want to try pockets to see if I have better luck. I'm very low on money so I am having to watch ebay for good deals. I think I have found one on a Happy Heiny but the auction doesn't specify if it comes with any sort of insert. The auction states that the diaper is brand new and unused though. Should I assume that it comes with an insert? I've e-mailed the seller asking but have not heard anything back. If it does not come with an insert (is insert the right term?), are they inexpensive and easy to come by? This auction ends in a few hours so I need to make the decision to bid and was hoping some of you could give me your thoughts.

I would say it doesn't come with insert.

If you are concern about leaking, I would suggest you stick to solid color PUL. Cotton print Happy Heinys tend to leak and are now suggested for heavy wetters. But solid color ones are workhorse.

i wouldn't think the hh comes with an insert, you'll probably have to buy it separately. my ds always leaks out of aio's also but our FBs work great.

I have had the exact same experience as you........with the AIOs I have, they really are only truly AIOs for an hour or so. So we just use them at home or I put a Bummi on them if we're going out.

I used pockets mainly, and I do not have that same problem with Fuzzi Bunz at all. I actually had a *slight* wicking problem with a HH the other day, but it was a print and my son ended up napping in it for several hours, and I didn't really stuff for a nap. That said, it still held up better than an AIO for that length of time.

And, I agree with the others......generally, pockets don't come with inserts unless the seller says so or has a deal. They don't come with inserts NEW. IttyBittyBunz.com has free shipping this month and some good hemp inserts that fit well into my pockets, so you could order one or two from there for not too much money. Also, I've gotten some great deals on inserts on ebay. And, for trying, you can use a CPF to stuff a pocket, too. My first pocket dipe came with a PF and a terry insert. I use more hemp, but those first ones worked good.

About the insert...if you want the special insert for HH's, they're sold a few places, I last saw them at Cloth Haven. I think it was btwn 7-8 bucks for the combo of inserts.

For almost all of my pockets I use prefolds. They work and they're cheap. I have infant sized prefolds for my wonderoos, and I use babykicks hemparoos in my fuzzibunz because I use them for when I need a long interval between dipe changes. The hemp prefolds are considerably more expensive, but still cheaper than buying brand specific inserts.

I like using Duckybuns inserts. They are very trim and very absorbant for my heavywetter I also like FBs or Knickernappies better then HH.

I love my HH's Linda has great Customer service. For stuffing I use the following.

Toddler CPF
Infant CPF
Infant CPF and Joey Bunz ~ This is for when we are out and about.
Stuffin and an Infant CPF at night in a solid.
Stuffin and a toddler CPF in a print when I realize I haven't washed a solid for at night.

The only wicking I have ever had is when I either understuffed or DH didn't change the diaper! :

I forgot to say about insert. I use microfiber towels on most of my pockets (HH and FB). They are cheap, absorbant, trim and quick to dry. Target, Wal-mart and many other stores have them at automotive section. It's less than $1 each. If you have heavy wetter or for naps, you can stuff with two.

Thank you all for responding. Unfortunately I didn't win the auction I had my eye on. But now I know about pocket diapers for next time!
