Hi, I am new to posting threads, but have been lurking for some time. I am not sure where to ask this question, but diapering seemed like the right category. My daughter is about 8 months old and we have been slowly introducing solids into her diet. She has so far tried and been somewhat consistently fed rice cereal, applesauce, sweet potatoes, avocado, banana, and zuchinni. She is definitely still primarily breastfed. She is a pretty regular pooper, we usually have a poopy diaper greeting us every morning :LOL
My question is, the last couple days she has been having green poos (which doesn't concern me) but also with little tiny solid green poos that really look a lot like a pea. They are pea sized and shaped and some even look like split peas. I really dont know what to make of it and was wondering if anyone had any insight on that, if it was something someone else had ever seen in their babies. I am reasonably sure she hasnt had any peas at all, so that is what is throwing me. I would guess I dont need to be worried about it, but am a little baffled......

It could be a small piece of avacado or zucchini, it's fairly common for a baby that age to not digest everything

yeah, I thought of that, but they are not chunky, they really are perfectly formed little orbs of green. And I think the last time she had zucchini or avocado was last Friday (almost a week ago). Given her frequency to eliminate (at least once a day, sometimes 2-3) it seems unlikely that anything from a week ago would still be there....? I dont know, but I am probably over-reacting to even be analyzing the whole situation anyway.....

My daughter is also 8 months and a lot of her solids don't get digested. She doesnt' eat that as her main meal, but nurses most of the time. But she loves to try new things!

I'm sorry, I should have said thank you for the thoughts on my little mystery. You guys have given me something to ruminate over, although I never thought I would be ruminating over poos.

I was a little surprised by the poops when DS started solids, also, as you can tell from my sig! A lot of what he eats is still identifiable when it exits.

Okay, clarify for me... When she has those little solid pea-like poos, are those the only thing in her diaper or are they mixed in with other more normal liquidy poo?

If it's mixed in, I'm sure it's just something she's eating that is coming out that way. But If that's all she is having, just little bits of round hard poo that don't really smear much, then it could be a touch of constipation. I wouldn't expect it in a primarily breastfed baby but rice, advocado, and banana can all be constipating. Just another thought.

Well, the little pea-like things are mixed in with her regular breastfed baby poos. So, I guess it could be constipation, but since they are coming out with what her regular poos are usually like, it sounds like it is probably some sort of undigested food....
Thanks everyone for helping me try and figure out what is going on!
