DS is 2.5 and uncirced. He has told me twice in the last 2 days that his penis hurts. When I look I see that he has an erection but that the foreskin is not retracted. From what I have read this is normal - that the foreskin will gradually detatch from the head and retract once an uncirced boy begins having erections. This is the first time I have noticed him having erections so I trust that everything is completely normal here. However I am wondering if it is normal for this to feel painful or uncomfortable for him?

Everything I've read says it's normal. Also, my nephews used to complain about pain when they had erections and they are all circ'd. I think it's more of an unknown sensation that they don't really have the words for, so they say pain.

Mine (intact) says "My penis is big," often with distress. I think it's just intense.

Intact kiddos here, too. My 4y/o sometimes complains when he has an erection - in fact, now that I think of it, even adult males will tell you that erections can sometimes be inconvenient and/or uncomfortable.<br><br>
I think most of the time when DS1 complains about it, what's happening is that he really needs to pee and the combo of stiffness and bladder fullness is uncomfortable, and he just hadn't put two and two together yet and figured out that he needed to run to the bathroom. (Oh, and at 4, I don't believe he's retractable yet, either...again, NORMAL.)
