hi all-
my son is three and is convinced he has a "baby bean" in his belly too. i mean, he runs to the bathroom saying he has to pee because "baby bean is pushing on my pee pee." one day i caught him wearing my sea bands and he told me baby bean was making his tummy hurt that day. yes, very cute- but he really thinks there is a baby in there?! when i try to talk to him about how his baby is just pretend, he insists it isn't. so... anyone dealt with this before? do i just go with it and hope it passes by the time the baby comes? i'm concerned there will be some real dissappointment about him not having a baby too. he is too cute, really...
thanks!

My son has mentioned a few times that he has a baby in his belly, but he hasn't really stuck with it. I think in your position I would both give him some time in hopes that it will become less of a big deal to him and I would stress that the baby in your tummy will be his as well as yours. I would ask him what he wants to name his new brother or sister, does he think his new brother or sister will look like him, etc.

Good luck.

Julian asked about this when we first found out, too. He wanted a baby in his belly. He is four years old, so I gently explained that only girls can have babies in their bellies and he was fine with that explanation. He hasn't mentioned having one in his belly since, but he did ask me if Lucy (his best friend) could have a baby in her belly. Then I told him only big girls like mommies
