To start, I plan to use some fleece, some wool and some PUL covers until I decide which I like. I figure I will end up using some of each throughout the diapering years. Especially since my mom is LOVING knitting wool wraps. She's not too fond of the pull-on wool patterns, but I think I will get some longie patterns (anyone know a good place for that?)

I got some prefolds at my shower from GMD, and got a little booklet on essentially the "care and feeding" of cloth diapers. Now, it suggests that to extend the life of PUL's (if they're going bad) to hand wash them in Ivory soap. Which led me to think, well, since you only wash covers every so often, would it be reasonable (doable, practical?) to plan to only hand wash covers? I'm pretty sure you have to hand wash wool anyways, so what if I have to have two different kinds of wash?

Is this practial for a WOHM and a WAHD? Would Ivory soap work for both PUL and Fleece? I know you have to use wool specific wash. But I wanted to see what the experts say, and who better to ask than you all!

That is so cool that she loves making wool wraps! That's all I'd use if I could get in gear to knit a bunch

I throw my PUL covers in the wash. The Bummis Super Whisper Wraps I've found will go for more than one kid, the Prowraps are about shot once she's grown out of the size. I only have about 4 of each size in rotation. I like BSWW for M and L (they're stiff for littler babies and leak for me), Prowraps for NB, S, and M

I wash my wool every 5 days or so, if I use it every day and have 2 or 3 covers in rotation, airing out between uses. Yup, wool is washed by hand, but it doesn't take very long. You can check for yummy WAHM made wool wash that just make it really fun. Okay, I'm a dork LOL

You can hand wash the PUL but to me that seems like too much work. I wash them every couple of days in my diaper load. I haven't cared for fleece yet. As far as the pattern goes you can get a longies pattern here http://hyenacart.com/FernandFaerie/index.php?c=10.

I just hand washed my BSWW today and it wasn't so bad. I sprayed it with cold water, sprayed biokleen-bacout on the inside and let it sit. So far the poop is gone and the pee smell is too. It really wasn't so bad as long as they don't take forever to air dry.
