I have seen several references to green flecks in a baby's bowel movements. Often when someone asks a question in regards to breastfeeding someone else asks if there are green flecks in the diaper. What is the significance of this?

From my experience, green in a BM means the baby is having a hrd time digesting something. It can also indicate a food allergy or intolerance. OR it can indicate teething as I have been experiencing lately - I guess a lot of saliva causes mucous to be in the poop too! I wouldn't worry too much unless the poop is all green and mucousy and the baby seems to be in pain - that happened to my dd and she has severe food allergies. A few green strands of mucous are nothing to worry about as long as they don't happen al the time and don't seem to bother baby!

Thank you. My son only occassionally has green flecks in his stool. But I have seen the question asked so many times that I was really curious what it meant. Thanks, again!!
