Hi all,

We have our first mw meeting tonight and i'm preparing my list of questions. just wondered if any of you had some wise questions you wished you'd asked? I'm so excited to be meeting with her and I've been amazed how everyone I've told about my plans to have a hb has been very supportive!

Anyway, any wisdom would be appreciated.

Cool!! I remember having a short list, but can't think of what was on it now. But, one suggestion... do write them down because I found that I would forget and remember it too late if I didn't write it down.

I guess just think about asking her about how she handles birth, what she does, what she doesn't do, and if you have any questions about the pregnancy or what you should/shouldn't be doing, that's a good place to start!

I asked about
--- tests -- their approach, recommendations, and what tests they would encourage or discourage me from having.

--- Payments and insurance details

--- Logistics of how often we would meet over the course of the pregnancy

--- What in their mind, makes an ideal patient over a challenging one

--- What were the risk factors that would preclude me from having a homebirth and when would those be determined

--- How long would they let me go before induction was discussed

--- What kinds of things I could be/ should be doing to maintain a healthy pregnancy (nutritionally, physically, etc...)

--- Discussed my travel plans (could I still go)

--- Asked for their recommendations for childbirth classes -- help me navigate what's out there so i could find something that would fit us.

What kind of equipment do you carry?
Are you able to perform neo-natal recussitation (totally spelled that wrong!)
Have you ever dealt with an emergency situation and how did you handle it?
How many births have you attended as the primary midwife?
What happens if I am in labor and you are at another birth?

I could come up with more, I ask a lot of questions!
