My ped follows the CDC schedule of immunization. I have not talked to him previously about possibly delaying or selectively vaxing so I don't know his position on it although I have a strong feeling he will be against it and give me pressure and a lecture. I am really nervous about injecting my healthy baby with so many shots. I really need to do more research on the topic. However, I'm Hepatitis B + and my baby did get the req. Hep B shots at birth. I was wondering if it was a good idea that I ask the ped. if I can only get the Hep B shot for baby today and delay the rest. Is it possible that he will say he will do all or none (kicking me out of his practice)? Will my baby be okay without the Hep B shot until I find another ped.? TIA

I'd say delaying, delaying, delaying. Don't know about the Hep B shot, but whatever they did at birth (there is something they give besides the shot for babies who may be positive) is probably covering your babe for the moment.

Don't try to explain anything, just say that you are looking into vaxes and want to delay while you research. If the doctor starts telling you stuff, say: "Can you give me all that in writing so I can review it at my leisure and get back to you? Thanks."

Thanks for the advice, Debroah. Does anybody know if the 2nd Hep B shot must be given at 2mths or can it wait a little if my current ped. won't do it because I wanted to delay the other vaxes???

Totally agree with this.

Just remember that you can put vaccines in, but you can't take them out if you regret them later. Stand firm and don't let the ped bully or scare you into them. If it comes to it, just grab your baby and leave, find another ped or a general practitioner (I've heard they're more open to not vaxing) that agrees with your views or at least doesn't try to bully or scare you into them.
