it's so rare that dh and i agree on a name. especially for a boy! he found this one while looking through a name book a couple of days ago, and was quite surprised to hear that i don't hate it... i actually kind of like it

so... what do you think of Noam? as in chomsky, i guess, though that isn't necessarily the inspiration

That's one of those names that make me mentally tired upon looking at it because it's not immediately apparent how one should pronounce it. NOam? Nome (like gnome)?

But I'm silly like that. Words drive me bonkers, especially when pg.

If you both decided on a name that you both like, to heck with what everyone else says, though.

thanks everyone for your input!! it's nice to bounce things off of people other than the husband sometimes, and i don't want to share our name choices with family/friends until the babe is born... it'll be a nice surprise!

i don't mind the noam chomsky reference - he's a pretty incredible guy

though that was not the original intention.

I like it if A) your last name doesn't start with an M and B) If you don't mind people calling him Gnome.

(Even regionally, some people have a hard time with differentiated syllables.)
