I just recently started eating quinoa and now I see there is red and a tri-colored one through Azure, I am wondering what the difference might be between those and the white/cream colored one we have. Any preferences?

I just bought some red quinoa and haven't tried it yet - I'm interested in responses too <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

I usually dowse everything we eat and quinoa comes up great and one of the best for us, this is the regular whitish one. But when I tested the red kind, it came up bad for all of us in the house. So I have no experience with eating it, and don't plan on it.

I found that the red needed to be rinsed even more than the white. It also seemed to take a bit longer to cook. But I love the color! And think that there must be some nutritional "goodies" in that vibrant hue. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">

I haven't tried red or black quinoa yet, but according to the Ancient Harvest website it is slightly higher in fiber and fat and slightly lower in calories and carbs.

the red quinoa is "nuttier" in taste and texture. similar to wild rice.<br><br>
i like it best cold in a salad.

Hmmm, maybe I will try a smaller size of the red before ordering in bulk. I am loving hearing your opinions <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

I doubt nothing is "wrong" with the red, but I dowsed (or some call it crystal testing) over the quinoa and the pendulum spun a "no" answer for me. Muscle testing is a different way to ask but would have gotten me the same answer. If you are interstedI can try to dig up some threads on dowsing. I dowse everything we eat these days. It has helped me identify so many allergies for my dd that I would have never known.

Wow that's so interesting!!! If you have time I would love to read a little on it. I think I remember awhile back now someone else on here doing that. I haven't been online much for about 2 months. I'm only allowing myself short stints on the computer since it seems to take over otherwise<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">
