DS is just about to turn 2 and we are looking for a new seat for him. He is in an alpha omega elite RF. The seat is okay but we are looking to get him in a more comfortable, safer seat. He is a average sized little guy approx 25lbs and 35inches. I would like something that is safe (obviously), that will last harnessed the longest, will eventually fit more than one in the car (we have a neon and a cavalier).

I was leaning towards the True Fit but, the low 5 point harness weight makes me reconsider. I was thinking about a Radian XT which would allow us to rear tether and harness much later. My other concern is that we travel a lot and BIL comes with us. So if we have another baby ot would be two car seats and an adult, probably DP, in the back seat.

I know very little about Britax so I would consider them an option. We have $250ish to spend. What do you think.

The True Fit is wider than the Radian, so if you are looking to leave the most room in the backseat for other seats/passengers, then the Radian is the better choice.

But, the True Fit has a very high harness weight limit (65 FF). Its top slots are in the same vicinity of the Radian top slots, so even if the XT has an 80 pound weight limit, most kids won't make it near 80 pounds (or even really 65 pounds) in that seat because they will outgrow it by height first. The Radian also takes up a lot of room front to back when rear-facing.

Has anyone installed them Rear Facing in a small car? I know that the RF install in the cavalier is a pain with latch. I never felt that it was tight enough and I choose to install with the seatbelt and a locking clip. Where can I find the height of the top slots for the radian?

The radian to slot is probably about 17 1/2". Not positive (trying to remember). It does take a lot of room front to back, as it's hard to get more upright. If you can try before you buy or make sure you can return it that'd be your best bet.

I would definitely do a TF or Radian over a Britax, simply because there is more leg room in either of those rfing then there is in the Britax.
