I just learned of this Reggio Emilia based preschool in Ballwin. Anyone familiar with the program/facilities/etc? Sounds pretty cool.

Thanks

I've been stalking their website for the better part of a year and did a drive-by a few months ago.

I haven't visited, but have been meaning to. The price ($180/week) is a bit much and my daughter wouldn't be full-time so I was concerned about her not fully fitting in with her peers.

I too have been stalking their website. I would love my ds to go there, but it's really out of my way as I live in Crestwood and work in Webster Groves. I think that they are very reasonably priced, though and that's a bonus for me.

I'll be watching this thread for updates.

I just toured and it's awesome! Clean, smells like yummy food, kids are laughing, I can't wait for my daughter to start. I've been to a lot of places and I've never seen anything like this. The outside of the building was misleading. It just looked like a regular daycare. But once I went inside, it was everything I wished for my little guy. It's a cool place.:

There's a newish Reggio Emilia based preschool called "Good Vibes" (the name only *sounds* naughty!) that was free its first year and now is very reduced. I could dig out the contact info if anyone's interested. PM me if you want the details.

Beane - I'm glad you liked the facility! My tour is Thursday afternoon and I'm really looking forward to seeing it in person. Are you looking for F/T daycare? In the perfect world I only want three mornings, but I don't think that's an option.

I did a drive-by a few months ago and was sorely disappointed with the outside of the building. But it sounds like all the fun happens inside.

Christina - I've checked out the website for Good Vibes several times, too. It's just too long of a drive for me - especially when 40 was closed. Have you heard positive reviews?

I am looking for full-time. I'll tell you, though, I looked for over a year for the perfect place. I think this is it. The outside is a bit drab. When I toured, I told them they were a diamond in the rough. They laughed and said they hoped to someday grow out of it and into a place that's more their style.

Tell me how your tour goes.

Angela-I don't personally know anyone who goes there, but the founder is the DH of my LLL leader, which is how I know of it. We visited it and ultimately decided where DD attends now was a better fit. No one thing stood out, more of a gut feeling on what was right for DD, kwim? For what it's worth, DD is about to finish her first year at Ethical Society Nursery School (which has a 2-day, 3-day, and 5-day program) and we couldn't be happier with it! (A "day" is 9-noon.) It's on Clayton road, just down from the Galleria. With 40W newly opened, maybe it wouldn't be too far for you? It's not Reggio Emilia based, though, so it might not be what you're looking for.

Christina - I'm not specifically looking for a RE school. Right now she's enrolled in the Parkway School District ECC - holding her spot to start in the fall. No matter what, I am so completely excited to have some time to just myself (I didn't just say that, did I?). I considered the Ethical Society, but I just didn't want the 20-25 minute drive one way. I've heard great things about their nursery school.

Yeah, our drive is 15 minutes and, even then, it hardly feels worth it sometimes to head home only to return a few hours later! I've tried to figure out a way to carpool, but with car space and carseat requirements, I don't think we can swing it.
I know what you mean about the time to yourself. I still have Ava at home but a lot of times she naps while Zoe is in school and it's wonderful! I am longing for 2 years from now when Z goes 5 days a week and A goes 2 days. Lovely!

WOW. I'm in love. Total and complete love!!

The price and time there is considerably larger than I was planning, but, man, I want in!

Beane - how old is your daughter? My kid would enter in the class for the threes and he told me there won't be any openings until June.

My daughter will be in the 3 year old class too! I would get her started today, but the class is full. I'll start this summer. I don't mind waiting. It's totally worth it. We'll see you then!
