Hi. I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I was raised an atheist, and haven't felt much of a need for spirituality in my life. That having been said, lately I've been feeling a need to address a heartfelt prayer to some sort of higher power. I don't know why now, but it might have something to do with sleep deprivation (I have a 17 mo child who hasn't slept through the night in several months) and a need for more patience than I possess to deal with my current living/working situation and DH.

Paganism is the only spiritual belief that rings at all true to me. Please don't laugh at this, but I do truly believe in the Parking Gods - I am not joking, I do pray to them all the time and they do reward my faith more frequently than not. They are pretty limited in scope though and I would like to learn more about other deities - or a Goddess... I don't know if I'm explaining this correctly.

Anyway, DH is nominally Catholic (his mom totally is) but I am not into the Christian thing at all. I am quite familiar with the tenets of Christianity thanks to a good education but nothing in Christianity really speaks to me (although some of the writings of the mystic women of the middle ages are nice and peaceful, and I like Boethius... but I digress).

What are some good resources for learning more about Paganism? I'm not sure that it's right for me but I'd like to give it a chance.

thanks!

Arduinna beat me to it! (in my defense though, the kids let our cat, Loki, out and I had to get him *smile*)

Gus DeZeraga's Pagans and Christians. Excellent explanations, nicely intellectual.

Stay away, for the most part, from Silver Ravenwolf.

Starhawks "The Spiral Dance" is a clasic starting point. http://www.witchvox.com/ is probably the best web resorce for Pagans going right now although it's more aimed at people who already are Pagan rather than those seeking.

I'm a mod at the Wicca Witchcraft & Paganism Comunity Forum.

I was raised Agnostic and am now Pagan. I know many Pagans who are more or less Atheist. They belive that their "Higher Power" is within themselves. For the most part (it does vary by tradition) Paganism is more about experiances than belifes. So we meditate, conduct a ritual, chant, drum or whatever to put ourselves in contact with our higher power (whatever you belive that to be) and take from that experiance whatever rings true for us. There really isn't a "you have to belive X to be Pagan"
