So I'm almost 31 weeks, and laying in bed about to go to sleep and baby starts moving. Not just moving but REALLY moving, in an extremely fast jerky way, almost like he is convulsing ir shaking. Of course I Immediately think "seizure" and freak out. . The movement is coming from down low, where his head has been in the last few weeks and I'm assuming it is now. It lasted about 45 minutes or so. I looked on the Internet and found those movements are common but all I found was people whose had lasted a few seconds or so. I am kind of freaking out that this lasted so long. I don't know if I should be calling my midwife or waiting until the morning. Has anyone else experienced this feeling, and for such a long time?

Yup, some kids are just more active than others. Obviously, if you are truly worried you should contact your care provider and get checked out. But when I lay down at bedtime, I frequently put up with 30+ minutes of gymnastics from newbaby, who seems to be determined that I should not forget about it.

I experienced that last night. it wasn't 45 min, it was more like 6 or 7, and it freaked me out. I couldn't imagine what he was doing to cause such spasms - it was WAY too fast for hiccups and too fast for simple jabs, etc.

But it stopped. And he was moving normally an hour later so I didn't let it concern me too much. I will probably mention it to my midwife at the next visit and see what she thinks.

My first child did that often when she got bigger and I asked my midwife about it. Turns out that because she was a thumb sucker (even in the womb) she would do that trying to find her thumb while all twisted up inside. She was the only one that did it and she was my only thumb sucker...so far.
