&^%$#@ rash!

Oh please help me with this rash.

What I thought was the Sport Wash burn/rash has not gone away after many washes without the SW. I have been washing in 7th Gen and using TTO in my cycles and that's all.

Stella booty looks HORRIBLE. I doesn't seem to be painful but I cannot clear it up. I started with my usual stuff: Some salve and then some Weleda. Neither of those worked for the first week. This week I am treating it like yeast and using Nystantin. It is day 2 of the Nystantin and no improvement. The skin looks bumpy and spongy and leathery and all bad.

Should I stick with the Nystantin? How do you determine what is causing the rash? Is a rash that won't die a reason to go the the ped and is she going to blame my diapers? Would it help if I posted a pic? It looks terrible.

Hmm, gosh, I don't know.

We have found that **nothing** helps Libby's rashes. Except time and lots and lots of nakey air time.

s I hate when their booties are so sad!

Can't help you on the diagnosis but do make sure that none of them get opened up. It doesn't take much to go from a little rash to a skin infection.

I often try some Mylanta and Benydryl(just a bit), just in case it does bother her.
Do you think it's the TTO? It can be strong for sensitive skin babes ... even if it's only in your wash. Do you have some nice cpf's that you can wash without any TTO (maybe strip) and then put them on loosely for a few days to see if that helps? Oh, and I love our Burts Bee diaper cream stuff. And yes, make sure it doesn't open up and get infected.
to little Stella.

Ack! I never thought about it opening up!

When you say mylanta and benadryl... how do you mean? orally or on the booty?
I apply it with a cotton ball and let it dry. It will counteract any acid from poop. That will help it to not get to the skin infection point.
Here is a link that might at least help you diagnosis the rash.
http://askdrsears.com/html/8/T081400.asp and it gives suggested treatments. Question does the rash clear if you use DD? That may at least answer the question if its something in the wash.

What is DD???

Going to check the link...

AMy - I highly highly recommend triple paste - Triple Paste

The stuff is magical. We tried nystatin, micanazole, clotrimazole, every detergent known to woman, every diaper cream out there, complete elimination diets, cortisone etc. etc. This stuff works miracles, for real. Don;t know why since it has the same ingredients as other creams but the proportions are different. Do use a liner, or rub it in really well so it doesnt get on the cloth. It will wash out with dawn though.

Ava's rash had gone on for like 5 months with nothing touching it until this cream.

Good luck!!

One other thing, the dermatologist DID try to blame it on cloth...although her ped. said cloth was better for rashes. So go figure!

I used Aquaphor on his bum & it helped tremendously~
Hope Stellas bum heals fast

Is Stella getting a tooth in? I ask b/c ds has his 2 yr molar's coming through. He had the worst rash in the world with them. Big white welts. They just appear so quick!

And she is about to cut her first tooth too. Poor baby.

we've been having the worst time with our dipes too. Rashes on top of rashes. 1st we had major sunburnn like rash. Thought it was from bleach. Then ds got a yeast rash. then the sunburn rash again. We had been using sportwash too and I am now wondering if that is the smoking gun. I washed a bunch yesterday and only had him in few cloth today so tomorrow I'll get a better sense of whether our dipes are healed yet.

good luck. I know how utterly frustrating it is. I just hate to have to use the sposies but dh and I feel like the cloth are causing just so many troubles right now that it is our only choice.
Sorry, I don't have any suggestions. Just offering a

If its a teething rash anything like the ones that Rhys used to get you may just have to wait it out. I ended up seeing the doctor who gave me a steroid cream for the worst areas of Rhys' bum and it still did nothing! Once the teeth came in the rash was gone in two days.

Air time is probably the best thing you can do.

Amy, twice in Sailor's history I've had to go with disposables and a thick layer of A&D ointment. Both times her stubborn rash cleared up within 24 hours and we were back in cloth with healthy skin. I hope you can find a cloth solution, but don't feel bad if you try out a couple of sposies.
