My DD has super super super sensative skin. We've been battling rashes for the past 6 months and finally they went away completely last week. Monday we started CD'ing and now they're back again. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> I don't know if its because of the change in materials next to her skin, or that they "feel" wet compared to disposables or what. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"><br><br>
Anyone else have this issue and how did you handle it? I'm almost afraid to put rash stuff on her because I don't want to mess up the absorbancy of the diapers, but I'm not sure what else to do.<br><br>
We are using happy heiny fleece lined pockets (I think its fleece). I know that she gets them all the time, so its not a HUGE deal, but I just have to figure out how to deal with it. (and we cant go diaperless because every time I have in the past she pooped and pee'd on the floor-including today)

Can you try her out in a natural fiber? My son's skin is easily irritated (just like his mama!) as well and I found that he would get rashes when in synthetics but now that I"ve switched to all cotton or hemp or bamboo (usually with a wool cover) he hasn't had a rash since we switched over. Also, consider the detergent that you are using, maybe switch that up? Are you rinsing the dipes enough? There shouldn't be any bubbles in the rinse cycle. Wouldn't hurt to sun them either! Also, are you changing her dipe often enough?<br><br>
If you don't have any non-synthetic diapers to use maybe cut up an 100% old t-shirt or towell and line the dipe with that? Is it hot where you are right now? Maybe she can't tolerate the PUL since it hold wetness in so well and can't breathe?

I don't know if this will help you but my son has REALLY sensitive skin (just like Mommy). I use almost exclusively cotton prefolds. I either use no cover or use wool. I find that anything synthetic or unbreathable makes him rash prone. Cotton prefolds doesn't eliminate the chance that he'll poop early in the night and spend the night in it (which could give ANYBODY a rash) but other than that, he's pretty much rash free with this method. I should mention that this little guy used to get bleeding rashes and fungal/yeast infections virtually non-stop so for us this is a big difference.

Thanks for the tips. I've been cleaning out my house and have a bag full of old t-shirts etc that I was trying to figure out a use for. I'll pad the inside of the diapers with some of the softer cotton for a couple days and see if that works.<br><br>
I've been using a generic "free" soap, only a tbs or so in the wash, and then a tbs of vinegar in the rinse, and checking for bubbles every rinse and havent seen any (and diaps come out smelling fresh and clean). I've also been drying them by flipping them over on the porch railing so the inside is "sunned" but they're not out there long enough to fade the material or anything. (rashes aside, I am LOVING these pockets...they dry SOOOO fast, I almost don't even have to dry them, other than the printed pattern ones) I do dry the inserts in the dryer, but they go inside the pocket, except when I double them up at night, and then I have 1 inside and 1 outside.
