Now that I'm almost into the 3rd trimester, I've been thinking about what kinds of herbs etc. I should look into to help labour when the time comes. In my first pregnancy, I drank raspberry leaf tea once a day to help tone and strengthen the uterus, but that's about it. I intend to do that again, and I'm wondering if anyone knows anything definite on when I should start and how much to drink. I don't like the taste enough to be able to stomach it more than once or maybe twice a day.

Also, I am greatly hoping to avoid tearing so much this time, and I've heard Evening Primrose oil can help with that. Am I supposed to swallow caplets of EPO, massage it into my perineum, or what?? And if someone could explain in depth (seriously) how to perform perineal massage as well, that would help. I am clueless.

Any other herbs/natural things I can do to help with this stage of pregnancy, and to ease labour down the road?

Somewhere on these boards is a recipe for a concentrated Raspberry Leaf Tincture/tea that is supposed to help speed up labor. I tried it during my last birth and I swear it helped! I'll have to find it again...

I do RRL tea daily as well as nettles. Both great for nutrition as well as pg concerns. I take them with lemon and honey and they taste way better. Or iced (refreshing!).
