Hello,

I am slowly switching to eating a raw-type diet for breakfast and lunch. From my understanding, your body will detox as you eat more and more raw.

I am currently nursing a 23 month old, so I was concerned about any toxins that may go into the milk - does this happen? Since I plan on eating raw for about half my food intake (maybe up to 75% eventually), does anyone know if the detox would even be an issue or not?

Thanks!

You will detox for quite awhile after going raw. In fact most studies say that you detox for about 7 years. How difficult it is will depend on how toxic you are. Ideally you will take it slowly and use your intuition. If your baby is having difficulty, you can slow down a bit if you find it's necessary. You can also take pascalite clay to bind the toxins and help usher them out. Good luck! Going raw is the most empowering and wonderful thing! Make sure you get your greens. :

I have been raw for 5mos, exclusively breastfeeding the whole time. my baby is going to be 10m old in a couple days...I have not noticed any adverse affects for my little one from detox. I did not take it slowly, just went 98%raw from the start! Cut out all cooked except for dark chocolate. We have been doing great at 100% now for three months. DH and my older two (2 1/2 & 5) are also raw and doing well, so we really feel good about the decision we made to go raw.

Natalia Rose has a brief section on nursing, pregnancy, and the raw diet in her book The Raw Food Detox Diet. I also highly reccomend the book Baby Greens by Cousens-it has a lot of great nutritional information and some very simple and yummy recipes for toddlers and the whole family

Baby Greens isn't by Gabriel Cousens, it''s by a team that works at the TOF institute: http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Greens-Li...8643897&sr=8-1
