Has anyone told their older child(ren) yet? Any funny/sweet reactions?

DD is 8 yrs old and LOVES her little brother, who's almost a year. It was very hard for her when her first brother died 2 years ago, and she has a very tender heart. When we told her, she started crying (!) and when I asked her what was wrong, she said, "Nothing. I'm so happy to be getting another baby, it's just coming out as tears."

She also said at first that she couldn't believe it because I don't look pregnant anymore (she's been telling me I look pregnant since DS was born). But no worries. Yesterday she informed me that I do indeed look pregnant again.

I told my 2 and a half year old because it felt weird to know but not tell her. I just told her there was a tiny baby starting to grow in my tummy. She touched my tummy and said, "can I feel it move?". She remembers feeling our friends baby kick. I showed her some pictures of what babies look like at this early stage and then others of how they grow and change.

Of course now it's to the inevitable. Her letting the cat out of the bag before we're ready to!

I told the kids, because I'm horrible at keeping secrets.
My oldest experienced my last miscarriage with us so I'm not worried about how to "untell" her if that should happen. She wants another sister, and my other dd wants a brother instead.

Her birthday was actually today, and the other day I told her to close her eyes and I handed her her "birthday present." She looked at my HPT and read the 1 line=not pregnant, 2 lines=pregnant and she said, "You're pregnant?"
"Yup! You're birthday present is that you're going to be a big sister again!" She laughed and said something about needing a bus for our family soon.

No way. BeanBean = neighborhood gossip. We can't tell him until we're ready to have it shouted from the rooftops. BooBah = tells her brother everything. We can't tell her until we're ready to have it shouted from the rooftops by her brother.

I've told Bella.
She doesn't talk much.

Hormonal pregnant lady tearing up over here!

I haven't told DD yet for the same reason as Rynna--she is a MAJOR blabbermouth and will probably tell every stranger we pass on the street. I think we'll let the cat out of the bag around 12 weeks or so.

I have to add, though--I swear she knows. She's had several imaginary siblings for a while now, and she's been really ramping up the play and discussion about them. ("I'm a sister, Mama! Did you know that?")

we haven't told D's 13 yr old dd yet since she went out of town for two weeks the day before we found out, and we didn't want to telle her such big news over the phone.

D thinks since we acquired kittens while she's been gone too we should tell her that now if we just had x amount more cats we'd have one for every person in the house and see how long it takes her to get it.

Grace sounds beautiful

My DD is excited and makes reference to it sometimes. I could take real advantage of this cause the few times I've said I'm tired cause I'm growing our baby she has backed off immediately

She is going to be a lovely big sister, she is such a loving cousin to my 6mo niece, always wants rocker or rattle duty.

Both of mine know, we are just concerned that dd will tell grandma and grandpa on the phone before we see them in person. But so far she is doing surprisingly well. We have been encouraging to not talk about it too much so it doesn't slip out and not to tell her friends.

My girls know. The 6 year old keeps talking about the baby and my fat belly and how she's excited to have a little baby again. The 2 1/2year old doesn't really get it but she knows she's going to be a big sister. I think she's kinda stressed about it because she still wants to be the baby. She's going to take the baby's arrival really rough because she is such a mama's girl and she weaned herself but I think is having second thoughts. She remembers "nack" so fondly and she was asking if baby gets "nack" and now I think she's not so happy that baby gets "nack" and it's empty for her. Fighting over boobies already!

yes we told dd because I can't keep a secret! lol we've told everyone in our family and social circle. dd said she wanted a sister. when I told her she didn't get to pick, she said "yes I do just tell the hospital you only want a girl" (lol at the hospital part since we're going to do a homebirth!) She said "just give a boy back to the doctor and exchange him!" lol then the other day she said it didn't matter if the new baby was a boy, she'd love 'her' anyway. lol

We haven't told our girls yet because they blab to everyone they saw! We are still trying to figure out some clever way to tell our parents, and we plan to tell the girls right before that.

I need to be secluded and nest a bit before the news gets out for good. I have some fear related to the hyperemesis that I experienced in my last pregnancy, so I felt like I needed to get a grip on that first. But I have begun week 7 and so far I am feeling only ravenous!

I still think the girls know something is up, though, because yesterday they were talking about how I am going to have a baby boy named Noah. And what is weird about it--Noah is our boy name! Kids! They are so darn intuitive!!

My ds is almost 3 and we tols him there was a baby in my tummy and he asked me if I ate it

He is really excited. He always says "my baby is in mama's tummy!" and that he wants the baby now.
After we pray he usually says "praise Jesus!" and now he says "praise Jesus a baby!"

He also said there was "two of 'em"
