I have had a reacurring swollen gland on one side of my throut off and on for the last few months. I am also tired often, have random outbreaks of cold sores, canker sores etc, I have been under a lot of stress recently and this is a trigger for me but the swollen gland thing is new. Is this a sign of infection I should be concerned with or just a passing bit? In other words could this be a serious sign or am I just a hypochondriac?

It sounds like your body is a bit run down. All of your symptoms can be a result of poor health in general - vitamin deficiency, lack of sleep, high stress level, and poor nutrition can lead to decreased immunity. The swollen gland is evidence that your body is fighting something. It doesn't sound like your symptoms are signs of a serious condition, but your decreased reserves put you at risk for getting sick.

If you can improve your nutrition and/or take vitamin supplements, try to get enough sleep, exercise, and decrease your stress level (yoga, meditation, a hobby you enjoy, taking time for yourself, etc.) you may see a drastic change in your overall health. Good luck .
