It isn't quite the same, but for awhile, tahini was giving DS hives, so we replaced the tahini with plain yogurt, and it was yummy.

Edited to include recipe

I use
- about 4 cups cooked, or 2 cans drained, of chick peas
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 T lemon juice
- 2 T yogurt

Blend together, and adjust the seasonings to taste. Add a splash of olive oil if it is too thick, and serve with a little olive oil drizzled over the top, of course.

Here's the recipe I use, when I don't have any tahini.

1 cup garbanzo beans, soaked and cooked
1 tbsp. EVOO or sesame oil
2 tbsps. lemon juice
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup water (or veggie or chicken stock -- really gives it good flavor)
1 tsp. horseradish

Process all ingredients until smooth. Easy, peasy.

You can use peanut butter in place of the techina also.
