Recommendation for non toxic stain remover and/or pre-treatment

Pre-treatment: Ivory soap. Moisten bar of soap and/or fabric, rub soap onto stain. Wash as usual.

I also use powdered non-chlorine bleach in the laundry. For really bad stains, I make up a gel with the non clorine bleach, sometimes the bleach with soap added, and use a paintbrush to apply it to clothing. Some stains disapear even before we wash the clothes.

Sometimes white vinegar can take out stains. Otherwise oxygen bleach (commercially available is OxiClean), which isn't a bleach, but a hydrogen chemical reaction that blasts away stains. OxiClean is not non-toxic, but it is environmentally friendly. Nontoxic and environmentally friendly would be lemon juice.

I recently tired Nature Brite sold by Shaklee (shaklee.com) and I loved it. It got out many old, set in stains that I had given up on. I never tried Oxiclean before, but assumed they were the same thing. So, when my Nature Brite was gone, I purchased Oxiclean. However, the Oxiclean just doesn't get the same results for me. It also burns my nose when I prepare a soak, which concerns me. I've also heard that Restore! brand has a excellent enzyme spray cleaner and a degreaser. I haven't tried these yet, but they're next on my list!

By any chance did you use the Nature Brite to get rid of stains caused by
dark clothing bleeding on white fabrics?

My fiance' washed a red/burgundy shirt with a white shirt with blue stripes (don't ask) and the red shirt bled on to his white shirt. I purchased some BIZ (which is a stain activated booster for colors and whites that contains enzymes) and soaked the shirt for a few hours. Most of the stains came out; however some remain that turned from a pinkish color to a faded yellow. Now, I don't know what else to use to get it out. Should I try another stain remover or try soaking the portion of his shirt that still has the stains with bleach and water?

I use Bac-Out for diaper stains but realized recently that it works well on clothing stains too... Smells good as well.

Bio-Kleen makes an all-purpose spray cleaner that I use for everything. Diapers, laundry, upholstery, whatever. It works great.

The BAC-OUT Stain and Odor Remover looks like a great all purpose product to have around the house. And it doesn't contain any harsh chemicals or perfumes. I'm going to place an order. Thanks for the Tip!

In the mean time, I'm going to try soaking the part of his shirt with the stains in lemon juice and water. I heard that lemon juice can act as a bleaching agent. If that doesn't work, then I'll try the BAC-OUT.

On some stains the Bi-O-Kleen Bac-Out Stain and Odor Eliminator seems to make it disappear even before I put the clothing in the washer. I also used it to get out some food spills in my van.

I'm sold! Definitely placing my order this week for the Bi-O-Kleen BAC-OUT Odor and Stain Eliminator.

How come I have never heard of this cleaner before. Is this a new product?

I have used another Shaklee product to get stains out too -- Basic H. I used one part Basic H to 2 parts water and it started taking out a 3 day old spaghetti sause stain immediately! It's good to know that the Nature Brite works so well too -- I have some from the get clean kit my mom got me.

Now I know why I haven't heard of some of this cleaning products-they aren't available in most stores. However, I did find out that Whole Foods carries the Bi-O-Kleen line of products, so I will purchase the Bac Out product from them.

I wish that I had heard about the Nature Brite before I purchased my big bottle of Biz two weeks ago. Since they are both laundry boosters and stain removers, I am going to finish the BIZ first. The Nature Brite will definitely be added to my "MUST HAVE LIST" along with the Bac out.

To Bi-O-Kleen Users: What is your opinion of the All Temperature Laundry Detergent and the Oxygen Bleach Plus with GSE products? Does the Oxygen Bleach get your clothes as white as Clorox Bleach? I previously used Seventh Generation laundry detergent and bleach alternative and was satisfied with it, but wanted to try another all natural detergent to compare it with.

I picked up the Restore! brand the other week as our local store started carrying it and am having good success with it! Fells-Naptha also works well and the vinegar somtimes.

for stains we use OxoBright, its an oxygen bleach like oxyclean but it has NO additives like scent, etc. just oxygen bleach. its powdered and i find it at my local trader joes. i get a small tub got $3.50 ish.
for ANY brand of Oxygen bleach to get the BEST results use HOT water. warm would be ok too, but hot works best. using it in cold water is pretty pointless.

So, I tried the BAC-OUT on my fiance's shirt that had stains caused by
dark clothing bleeding on a white fabric. Although it did not completely get rid of the stain, it faded it to a barely detectable pale yellow stain. I contacted BioKleen's customer service and they said that this product is recommended for use on food, beverage, or organic stains and odor. So, this time I think I'll try bleaching out the stain with lemon juice.

The BAC-OUT did perform AMAZINGLY well in getting out perspiration odor in my clothing. I sprayed the underarms of my shirts and they now all smell fresh. It even got rid of set in perspiration odor that had lingered on some of my dark colored tops despite several washings with my other laundry detergent (Gain, ERA, ALL). They just seemed to mask the set in odor with artificial fragrance; It also completely eliminated the lingering scent of my "scented" deodorants (i.e.Black Cedar Fig Funk Butter). This product is now officially added to my "MUST HAVE LIST!
