I need to get some more diapers for my 3 yo son who weighs 35 lbs. Even diapers that say they go to 45 lbs don't fit him. He has outgrown the toddler size kooshies. Any suggestions from experience?

I can't say enough good things about toddler-sized prefolds. Maybe just get a couple and see how you like them? DS outgrew his Kushies at around 32 lbs, they don't work so well with buddha bellies.
Not from personal experience, but most people with big monsters like the Happy Heinys XL pocket diapers too. The up side of these is that I know people who have used them as good training pants too.

make bigger then toddler size diapers. In my experience it has been hard to find bigger diapers for my 3 year old son. I know that some wahms will make custom diapers if you ask.

Hey my son Zeke is not a monster and the XL Happy Heinys fit him perfectly on the tightest setting, he is 40 pounds of cuteness and not an ounce of fat on the babe. *Monster* my eye!! LOL! Just ruffling your feathers, I do not mind.

Well, Seb is 36 lbs of pure monster, and has the bruises to prove it! Not to mention the shattered glass in the fireplace from his head... (he's fine people! Don't worry)

Holy cow, my guy is different then that, he sits and reads. A true geek! Your son has the same name as my son Zekes second name. Your guy sounds like a rockem sockem kind a boy.

Yes, he is wearing the xlarge on the tightest setting so that means he could grow another 10-15 pounds probably and still use them with great success!

Fuzzi Bunz now has an XXL diaper. I know several moms with large babys (40+ pounds even!) and these fit them very well. They come in all sorts of beautiful colors too, even the new FB colors like Turquoise, Aqua and brilliant Orange (3-4 others too).

funny, i was just going to ask the same thing. my ds is around 38 lbs and is wearing pullups (we never cd'd with him). but since i've been cding dd, i've really wanted to get him some too. i have some larges that were gifted to me, but they are really snug on him, and none of my one sizes fit him either. he's starting to get really interested in dd's diapers, so i might actually be able to get him to wear some!

my problem is, i really dont' want to spend a lot of money on them. i'd imagine that XL's would be harder to resell and dd seems to be growing a lot slower than he did, so i'm thinking she'll probably be out of diapers before she's big enough to wear them.

i'd say prefolds (large ones) are the cheapest but i don't want to use them bc my ds is in the middle of potty training and he has to be able to get them off himself.

Not especially easy to get, but oh so pretty... Full Moon Baby Gear size XL are really really big. My DD is 33 lbs and is on the tightest snaps. I dont know about the dipes tho, just the AIOs; however, I expect the fit is similar.

Firefly XL and Fuzbaby L fit my 35 lber excellently. They are both a high rise, but I like that, so I don't mind. The Firefly L are fine, too, but I have an XL Sleeptight and its great - but I only have one brand of cover that fits over them, LOL! I would try SugarPlumBaby's XL, too.

OK- Now I am thinking I don't want to use the microfleece that it seems all of the big diapers are made with. Having polyester (and not cotton or hemp) next to my baby's skin creeps me out. Are there any of these BIG (over 40 lbs) diapers that are not microfleece next to baby? I was just ready to order the HH and read that they are microfleece.

Fireflys come in an XL, you should call lori and ask her about measurments. I know the larges are pretty big. I understand about microfleece, we really don't like microfleece either. That's the only ones I can think of for now. Plus microfleece makes them feel dryer and if you want to help encourage him to PT it might be better to avoid microfleece.

I am eyeballing snug-to-fits as a possible inexpensive diaper that claims to go to 50 lbs in the toddler size. Naturally, I have no idea how good/bad they are. They are 6 layers of flannel, plus 2 layers of terry so I assume they will be a little bit absorbent anyways, right?
Does anyone have any experience with these?

Babykins makes a snap AIO that, although not the most super-absorbent thing in the world, has worked just fine for us. Of course, I can't find a single link to anyone who carries the XXL size anymore. We had them in mediums, when they fit my 20 lb 3 month old wonderfully.

Then there is the youth-size Bumkins AIO. These fit Seb a little strangely, but a lot of people seem to like them.

Thank you so much for all the help. I am thinking of this: Do you think it will work?
Using a HH diaper with a hemp fleece insert ON TOP , not in the pocket, thn most of what is touching my ds is the hemp, not the microfleece. Would it stay in place? Would it work?
