Before we were TTCing I would drink a cup of RR tea everyday after ovulation to help with my oncoming period and cramps. Now that we are TTCing I am not drinking it as I am concerned that if I would happen to concieve it would prohibit the baby from implanting. But if I do not conceive and am going to get my period I need to be drinking this tea as it really helps with cramps. Last month I did not drink the tea and it was a bear of a period. It was bad. So my question is does anyone know if this is ok to drink after you o if you are ttcing?

I don't think it's recommended to take after ovulation for the reasons you stated. I don't take it past my period. Have you tried vitex? I didn't have any cramps last month, and I'm wondering if that's why.

I don't know. I've heard other women say they drink RRL tea straight through from TTC to delivery. It tones the uterus, and drinking a strong infusion when you start going into labor is supposed to help you have a fast and less painful delivery.<br><br>
There was a long thread about this in another subsection of Pregnancy and Birth a while ago. I'll see if I can find it.<br><br>
Anyone else have any thoughts or knowledge?

...and here's a link I just found in that thread that explains some more about RRL.<br><br><a href="http://www.birth.com.au/class.asp?class=67&page=25" target="_blank">http://www.birth.com.au/class.asp?class=67&page=25</a><br><br>
I guess I'm going to err on the side of caution and not drink my RRL during the TWW. I've been drinking it to promote fertility as well as help with my cramps - if AF comes in two weeks I'll start drinking it again.<br><br>
It's certainly okay to drink RRL before O. It's only after O that there's controversy.

I drank it once in the 2ww and did have uterine cramping and it made me worried that I had interfered with possible implantation, however I've heard a few say it made their normal cramps quell. Mostly it is my understanding that RRL is not so hot for the 2WW.

I thought it was ok to drink AFTER the 1st trimester because it helps tone the uterus. But, that it could hinder implantation and increase chances of a MC so to cut it out during TTC and 1st trimester. Not for sure though.

Wow, thank you OP for bringing this up! I was drinking all cycle.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/yikes.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="EEK!"> Wasn't very consistant with drinking it every day or multiple cups a day until recently, but thought it was ok to drink anytime, pregnant or not. Had no idea that there was even a question about not drinking it during TWW or early pregnancy. And thanks to all of you that posted info/advise, so glad to have access to such experts on a daily basis!<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

I've been drinking raspberry leaf tea for YEARS- sometimes daily, mixed with other herbs. I harvest it right outside the house. As far as I have always understood it is only helpful, so gentle and never hurtful. I have been tryign to conceive for 4 months now and am still trying, but I doubt it is the raspberry. Because isn't it even in pregnancy tea mixes?<br>
Oh, it can be so rough trying to figure out what to do or not to do. But people do and don't get pregnant with all kinds of stuff so who knows?

I think I am going to err on the side of caution and not take it until I start my period. I don't know if that will help or not. I'm hoping so. I have been drinking chamomile tea daily, as I usually drank Chamomile and RR tea together and my periods were shorter, lighter and pain free. Last one I stayed away from both teas and my period was nasty.<br><br>
With that in mind, what other herbs or natural remedies are ok in the tww to help with the oncoming period, if it happens. Or to use during period that helps with pain?

I've been reading all the Red Raspberry Tea threads in Fertility tonight and I must say now I am really scratching my head...<br><br>
We were not TTC. I've been charting to avoid since last October. Anyway, we DTD 2 days before I O'd this cycle (whoops) and right around the same time I started drinking RRL tea, not having read anything besides Susun Weed's book, which (correct me if I'm wrong) says nothing about avoiding it during the luteal phase or early pregnancy as far as I've seen.<br><br>
And now I've been excited/going crazy thinking I'm possibly pregnant because I've had cramping ever since I o'd, which is not a normal luteal event at all for me. I'm only 9 DPO at this point. Also having weepy spells, slight nausea, very vivid dreams and constipation.<br><br>
And some of you say it can cause cramps and some say otherwise, and boy is this girl confused! I don't know, could this all be the product of RRL tea and psychosomatic tendencies? Ugh!

Nuwavemomma - I am curious too. I have been cramping since O and drinking RRL tea and having all these symptoms and I wonder if it was the tea that maybe didn't cause my little one to implant? I guess I will know better next cycle but I wondered about it because it always seemed like my cramps were a little worse the day after I drank a cup... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/eyesroll.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="roll">

I've been wondering this myself so thanks for posting this question. Although I'm still not sure what to do. There is a fertility tea that I was thinking of buying, but it has RRL in it. Now I wonder what I should do.

I wonder if it ("It" being differences in RRL's impact on people) could just have something to do with the amount of it in the teas? it may just be that there's a suitable amount for TTC and 1st trimester in some pregnancy teas, and the teas that have only RRL may be better for other times. any herbalists around here?

On another thread on here there was a list of supplements for taking during/prior to TTC. I copied the list but don't have a link to the thread anymore. I looked at the list and it said that RRL is good for lengthening your Luteal Phase and for preventing a miscarriage. I thought it was safe to take throughout a pregnancy (but only about one cup a day, until you get to the end and want labor to start).<br><a href="http://www.tryingtoconceive.com/store/hh.htm" target="_blank">http://www.tryingtoconceive.com/store/hh.htm</a><br>
